Prosper 202 or Voluum Pro? (9)

Prosper 202 or Voluum Pro?

Hi

I'm currently running my first campaigns and yesterday I managed to configure Voluum (although I get an error on conversions from Decisive). However there was a part in the config-guides which I did not do and it was the Domain-setup (your own domain) because then you need the Voluum Pro version. And Voluum Pro costs 99USD/month which is quite a lot if you consider the other monthly fees you have too pay as a affiliate n00bie:

STM membership: 100 USD/month
VPS hosting (STM-coupon on Beyond hosting): 25 USD/month
Spying tools: 150 USD/month
Campaigns: 200-300 USD

So I'm already paying 275 USD/month in FIXED costs + 200-300 USD in campaigns so I'm not so turned on in paying additional 99 USD/month for a tracking tool... My question is: as a affiliate N00b, should I pay for Voluum PRO or is it enough with Prosper 202? Do I need to setup my own domain in Voluum to have optimal conversions or can I run the Voluum Basic (free)?

I know it would require extra effort, but maybe you can setup Prosper202 too, and duplicate the same campaign onto 2 different free tracking platforms, and split test click-loss, performance, etc.. if you are worried about the extra costs while starting out.

What spy tools?

My first suggestion would be to learn from the spy tools as much as possible and then ditch them, at least for a while. They are quite expensive cf. your other costs.

How many clicks are you pushing? At only $200-300 per month, surely the Voluum newbie plan will suffice?

@dario: that is a good idea, the problem is that I'm to lazy (read: don't have the time) to setup tracking in two different trackers

@zeno: I'm using WRW (what runs where). Yes, using the spy tools and then ditching it for a while could be a good idea. Regarding clicks currently I'm pushing about 1000 clicks per month.. So yes, perhaps the newbie plan is ok.. Just worried about the domain thing. The text on the Voluum page is:

"The Noobie plan does not allow using a custom tracking domain. If you want to use your own domain name for tracking instead of XXX.trackvoluum, upgrade to a paid plan here.

Here you can add your custom tracking domains. We highly recommend adding a custom domain.
The default trackvoluum.com is meant for testing purposes only."

Are you using Voluum Zeno? Or some other tracker?

Yes I use Voluum but not exclusively.

I wouldn't worry about the custom domain. It's not really important unless a traffic source for whatever reason blacklists *.trackvoluum.com, which would be overzealous.

For your current situation, go with Voluum.

I would go with Voluum and not worry about the custom domain.

@zeno, @bbrock32: allright, thanks for the advice! I will continue running Voluum then

Hey mistert - I agree with Zeno on spy tools.

- get what you need and then check back in with them in 3-6 months if you need to.
- you definitely don't need the subscription at all times.

Also, if you want free tracking with very little setup time, read this post: http://www.malandarras.com/no-tracking-system

1. Free
2. Very little setup time

Good luck,
Malan

Oh, good to have you back Malan!
