I've been contemplating using GeoSurf, HideMyAss, and other paid proxy solutions to try and figure out what my landing pages look like in different countries. Then I came-upon Tor, and how to leverage the network of non-blacklisted proxies show me the landing pages I want to see.
Let's begin.
1) Download the Tor Browser
2) Install The Tor Browser
3) Look for the Tor Browser folder that was installed in your computer. Go to Tor Browser -> Data -> Tor and open the file Torrc in notepad++
4) Edit the Torrc file to add the "ExitNodes" line as shown in the screenshot below. The line should be ExitNodes [space] {[Two-Letter-Country]}.

5) Verify your location with whatismyip.com
6) Go to your tracking URL.
It's a bit of a roundabout way of doing things, but I don't launch enough campaigns to justify spending $89/month on GeoSurf.
Neat!
You can also just use free proxies a lot of the time. Obviously it's wise to be somewhat suspicious of any open proxy, but if you use a separate (ideally sandboxed or NoScripted) browser for them and just use them to visit your offer page, you should be OK. Do remember to turn the proxy off as soon as you're done, though.
I use a completely separate and sandboxed VM. Not worth compromising my internal networks.
Yeah, if you have the skills that's definitely the best route.
Hey jennatalia,
I'm wondering if you can use Tor Browser to test the conversion flow of an offer, to get around paying for a VPN subscription. I won't be launching enough campaigns to justify the cost of a VPN, even a cheap one.
What do you think? Is it possible?
It'll work. Better not use your affiliate link to test the conversion.
Some GEOS don't work too well because of a lack of tor
Just to clarify, shouldn't you use your affiliate link to test the conversion? Isn't that the whole point?
What is a lack of tor?
Sorry for the newb questions, but that's exactly what I am.
Don't overdo it. Filling out your own offers is largely frowned upon.
