Hi there,
Please excuse my "rookiness" here but i am in need of some clarification. Here it goes, **while i put my head down in shame**
I installed prosper202 in my vps, and i have gotten the hand of it down somewhat, however there is something that I still cannot understand, when you add your affiliate link in the campaigns part at the bottom there are subids, c1, c2 etc...
Can someone explain to me what those things are for, i have been selecting them but it doesnt seem to be doing anything (that i know of).
Sorry if this is a silly question or something i should know by now.
Thanks
Old post but helpful http://www.nanagilbertbaffoe.com/201...-was-possible/
They are placeholders that pass on the values you originally passed to prosper202 in your tracking link.
If you have trackinglink.com?c1=this&c2=that
Then in the affiliate link, if you put affiliatelink.com?subid1=[[c1]]&subid2=[[c2]]
Then it will evaluate to affiliatelink.com?subid1=this&subid2=that
You should be comfortable with how subids and query strings work or it will cause you endless trouble - http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...-Read-This-Now
Thanks guys i will read those
Sorry if i ask again about this, but i am still i bit confused even after going thru both of those links you guys provided. And one thing i have committed myself to do is to not jump around to another subject until i completely understand the one i am working on, with those two links i understand pretty much how the entire tracking system works from beginning to end, but i still have no idea when to use the subid in prosper.
The c1, c2 stuff i use and for example if i am using PoF as the traffic source and i put c1={age:} i know it gets replaced by the actual age of the person which is pretty good data for tracking, but i still dont understand when to use the subid, what i am doing is that i am always clicking the subid button in prosper when i create a campaign but i truly dont know for what, my understanding is that the subid carries the session of the user and goes all the way to the affiliate network, i am just not sure how to actually put it into good use in prosper. if someone could list an actual example of a link i think it would really help.
Basically, the subid token will append a unique value to the end of your aff link so you can attribute each conversion to the right click. If you're not using postbacks or pixels, then when you manually upload the converting subids from your affiliate network you'll be able to see which keyword/ad etc gave you the conversion.
I am just confused as to how to actually put it in prosper when i create a campaign, i know that when you add the campaign it gives you the option to add the subid, but i dont know if i should give it a number or what to do with it. Could someone provide an example of how they do it?
Where you put the affiliate network link, just add [[subid]] to it.
E.g. hxxp://afflink.com/?a=123&c=456&s1=something&s2=[[c1]]&s3=[[subid]]
