My first mobile offer.

Hello!

i have started my first offer.
AN: ClickDealer
Traffic source: Decisive, inMobi, mobfox, adwords
Tracker: Voluum
Payout: 0,70 per install
GEO: Brasil

i created 6 banners and also 2 landings (1 on malaysian and 1 on english language)

4 campaigns for each landing on WIFI/Mobile Apps/Sites

so total 8campaigns

i'm spent already a 2$ on each campaigns, and receive no conversion

what i need to do now? blacklist something?

would appreciate any advices on my way to cpaGod (on this first step)

thank you

I think you should read a bit more first if you have to ask these questions!
Not to be rude, but you will just blow your money.

You should check CTRs, placements eating up budget etc., but better leave campaigns running for some 5$ a day each, 2 days. And kill ONLY terrible stuff in this phase.

10-03-2014 04:32 AM #3 pulsefiremedia (Member)

I think it's okay. If he has the budget to test then why not? Keep us posted on results

i cant reach the day limit of 2$

i receive my first conversion!

What are you bidding ? Maybe you are bidding too low. There is plenty of volume for malaysia on decisive i think

10-03-2014 07:12 AM #6 cpagods (Member)

i made the Smart CPM like the Appetiser Said

so if payout s 0.30 i made it 0.45

10-03-2014 07:32 AM #7 cpagods (Member)

now i switched to 0.13 CPM

and also what the best way to track costs from Decisive to Voluum?

10-03-2014 11:41 AM #8 IanAtSTM (Member)

Unfortunately, you can't pass the cost information from Decisive to Voluum (or to any tracker). Decisive just doesn't have that feature at the moment.

You can input an estimated cost per click on Voluum, but that's only going to give you the very roughest of rough ideas when you're using CPM.

You could try setting up a spreadsheet to combine the data from Voluum and Decisive?

is it critical to use banners on local language?

Yes mate. Get those translated, using either onehourtranslation.com, fiverr or Google Translate.

Also, you need to spend more than $3.5

is it critical to use banners on local language?
Yes, it is, to the point that I'd refer to not doing so as "throwing money down the drain". It's annoying, but vital.

Have you read through the Mobile Cookbook here on STM? It'll really help you in the early stages.

10-04-2014 07:13 AM #12 cpagods (Member)

yeah

i did all the same
but i still got no conversions

by this rules

If, after 5,000 impressions, one banner is showing no conversions and a CTR of less than half of the top 3 banners’ average, cut that banner.
If a placement has spent more than 3x the payout of the offer and is taking more than 50% of total impressions, kill that placement.
If a placement is running extremely high CPCs (more than 3x the average) and has spent more than 2x the payout, kill it unless it’s profitable.

i might cut all the banners...

had redraw all the banners for local language

10-04-2014 10:55 AM #13 caurmen (Administrator)

If that's the case, cut all the banners.

You sometimes have to mill through a LOT of banners to find ones that work.

10-06-2014 06:06 AM #14 cpagods (Member)

so i have local language banners

and spent each campaign for 5$ three days

and got 4 conversions

is it reason to drop that offer and try next?

also is it necessary to try another sources of traffic, not only Decisive?

10-06-2014 06:11 AM #15 iAmAttila (Veteran Member)

Decisive sux. Try another traffic source. Its not the offer.. The offer is good i do around 2k rev a day on it.

thanks i will try inmobi mobfox admob

is it good?

also same setup for offer? same landings each landing 10 banners

10-06-2014 03:44 PM #17 caurmen (Administrator)

Were the conversions clustered on any campaign in particular, or spread out?

Not a bad idea to test more traffic sources too, though!

10-07-2014 08:10 AM #18 cpagods (Member)

here is my stat for 4 campaigns

so i guess decisive is sux

10-07-2014 09:00 AM #19 tiger_haha (Member)

about you said, no conversion, maybe I think you should check the display position, to find the specific data, so you can do some optimizing.

10-07-2014 09:42 AM #20 cpagods (Member)

display position? what you mean?

blacklisting publishers?

it was spread between all campaigns

10-07-2014 12:35 PM #22 cpagods (Member)

i have 2-3% ctr on banners for now after 3000 impressions each banner

LP ctr is 20-30%

but i have difference beetween decisive banner clicks and LP visits in Voluum

may be problem with lander loading? i have avg page load time 5.27sec

10-07-2014 02:44 PM #23 cpagods (Member)

so i found a little problem

can you make a decision why it's happened

i got around 200 clicks from landers to offer in Voluum

but in clickdealer i have only 95 clicks with 3 conversions

is it called clickloss?

10-07-2014 04:36 PM #24 caurmen (Administrator)

That's click loss, but it's higher than you should be expecting.

Are you running with any other networks? If so, do you see similar click loss there?

Also, get in touch with your AM at Clickdealer and see if you're getting a lot of out-of-geo clicks reported (clicks that they're detecting as not being from your target country).

Sweet jesus!

How did you test that? That is certainly a problem. How heavy is your lander?

Clicks are tracked as visits the moment users are redirected through your tracking link. Whether the lander loads or not is irrelevant.

You should do some due diligence and research here.

What geos does the offer allow? Check the country data in Voluum to confirm how heterogeneous your traffic may be.

How many duplicate clicks have you got? Voluum counts every click. Look at the IP tab. In Cake platforms, go to the click report and include dupes. It will record them, they can convert, just they wont show in the subaffiliate summary that does unique clicks only. Carriers aggregate users to IPs.

Lastly, you can ask your AM for feedback on how many out-of-geo clicks you are sending.

absolutely that's clickloss.
some reasons caused it.
maybe ur LP sever has some problems.
maybe ur track url..as so on...

10-08-2014 12:47 PM #27 cpagods (Member)

have been trying adwords now but have a problem with conversion tracking

cant use Voluum via adwords so no postback!

also i askd my rep at Clickdealer he said the traffic is totally local, almost 98%

ps: btw i got conversions from the adwords now (woohoo) but cant track it and target as i said before

You can definitely use Voluum with Adwords - I've done it. What problems are you hitting?

10-11-2014 12:21 PM #30 adrianegerrard (Member)

Hey bro. Are you Malaysian? Do you go for any CPA courses before you started this campaign ?

10-13-2014 08:40 AM #32 cpagods (Member)

i have a news and new questions

i made a guess:

i cant make an AdWords postback via standart Voluum domain

so i need the custom domain for Voluum

but i need token table or smth for track parameters and analyze the data

10-13-2014 11:42 PM #33 zeno (Administrator)

I don't think it's easy to use postback conversion tracking with Adwords - at least as an affiliate - and I doubt it has anything to do with the domain of your tracking system. If anything, it would be due to needing whitelisting and having to go through various tracking integration steps.

I really have no idea what kind of S2S options Adwords offers but I can imagine you'd need a developer/coder to navigate the minefield.

Hey iamattila,
I just worked with FB last two years, so I wanna try another traffic source now, I am going to try decisive, what about the traffic there?could you give me some help?

I have no idea about your campaign overall, but if your avg page load time is 5.27 seconds, I don't think any advice will help.

Get this down ASAP ... closer to 0.527 instead of 5.27

10-15-2014 02:58 PM #36 caurmen (Administrator)

@cpagods - When I last did it I just created a standard campaign link - I was using Voluum for these campaigns - and added it to Adwords. The offer was a private one, not through an affiliate network.

Postbacks and conversion tracking was done in Voluum. It's *possible* to track conversions in Adwords, but waaaaay harder, so I just used the tracker's postback system.

10-20-2014 07:35 AM #37 cpagods (Member)

so, i made a postback via Voluum

i made a lots of targeting changes:\
left only 5 hours of day (last 2 day it confirms the best result)
left only two banners
left only 2 landers

now i got ROI -15%

what to do next? handsets? leave 1 landing?

and what means android generic in device model report?
i have 3300 clicks and only 2700 visits, is 18% is normal clickloss?

thanks for the answers.

Intresting to see you started, Start small bud dream big that is what i learned if you can get the traffic volym would see more conversions i think. I starting also to agree that decives is not a good start for new marketers. Good luck my thumbs is with you and i will keep watching your progress !

10-20-2014 08:25 AM #39 cpagods (Member)

now i have 30$ campaign daily budget and received 39 conversions for yesterday (27.30$),
30$ was enough only for 2.30hours (0.01CPC)
how can i make at least positive ROI now? im gonna try 100$ today and get all the traffic, cause i cant target other parameters

10-20-2014 06:51 PM #41 zeno (Administrator)

How many banners and landers overall did you test?

IMO your back end conversion rate is letting you down - so I would split test other landers to try and bolster conversion rate.

10-21-2014 07:41 AM #42 cpagods (Member)

it was totally 5 landers and bunch (~20) of similar banners

here's the screen of all creatives

also the day before yesterday ROI was -4% (32.19 spent, 29.40 earned)

this night ROI again -30%

10-21-2014 11:05 PM #43 zeno (Administrator)

Looks like you've tested a decent variety of banners and landers then.

I assume you have been optimising placements systematically, but what about devices and OS versions? Carriers?

There may be some nuggets of profitable traffic buried in there.

And of course, split testing offers across networks.

10-22-2014 07:33 AM #44 cpagods (Member)

today roi is +38%

also can you recommend me a designer who can make a banners landers for me

10-22-2014 08:50 AM #45 zeno (Administrator)

Not of the top of my head, but you could try Banners & Landers which is owned by one of our mods, Attila - http://bannerslanders.com/
