Does creating a targeted angle while promoting a GENERAL offer work?

Hey guys, just had a quick question. I've been promoting general dating websites, but using interesting targeting angles on POF. For example, I'll take a general dating website and make an ad that says, "Skinny Girls Want Fat Guys.. We have skinny girls specifically looking for fat guys".. Is this ok long term? Or will the offer website find out that it's semi false targeting and kick me off the offer?

I'm doing extreme targeting and it seems to be working well. But could you expand on the bidding part, or do you know of any particular links that talk about it? I'm using the beginner's guide approach of bidding everything at .73, and not really sure how I would evaluate if I need to increase my bid or decrease my bid.

You definitely can do angles, and you've got the right idea.

With angles you want to do 1 or 2 things.
1. Target a broad audience and make sure your angle applies to the majority of the audience. (ie: 'Win a laptop'. Everyone wants to win things)
2. Make an angle around specific people and target them specifically. (ie: 'Girls like boys who ride motorcycles'. Then advertise on motorycle forums)

Thanks for the advice stackman. I didn't know that I can use angles on a general dating offer. I thought that these angles are only for niche dating offers.

But can I still have a positive ROI if I am using a general dating offer?

I know that it all boils down to how I set up my campaign bit I am just curious to know if these general dating offers still work...

It depends on the type of angle.

Some angles are harmless, others can create false expectations that harm your lead quality.

I think "Skinny Girls Want Fat Guys" is fair enough.

If you were to use, say, "Indian Girls Want Fat Guys" -- but the site doesn't actually have many Indian girls -- that's the type of angle that can screw you.

Whatever you promise, it has to be somewhat implied on the back-end or you'll be baiting and switching your way in to trouble.

This is an area where advertisers and affiliates could definitely work together better with custom LPs, custom funnels and etc.

That explaination seems fair enough. As long as my angle is something that the offer has then I guess its alright.

Thanks Finch!

That's a perfect way to sum it up!

With that exact wording you can still get very creative with your angles, it's not always the obvious ones that work best.

Example: realistic women, usually convert better than super hot models.
Where as your initial angle idea would likley be "super hot models"
