I'm not asking your detailed traffic sources of course, but let me know if you have ever managed to get profit from a
different traffic source other than Adwords or Bing, like for example from mobile publishers on RTB platforms

This is something I've been interested in lately.

Media buys for PPCall don't need to be online.

Lots of guys make money buying radio ads and airtime on major radio stations. Americans have certainly heard plenty of direct-response radio ads.

Tech support is huge on PPV right now.

You could probably find +ROI billboard placements along major highways.

Newspaper ads have been home to direct response ads since their inception.

Hell, you could even hang flyers on people's front doors that say "If you were a criminal, which house would you break into?" with a picture of their home surrounded by other homes with home security signs up.

Sky's the limit. I think it's an industry that will allow creativity much in the same way that mainstream mobile did.

Most pay per call publishers find success with mobile search, that's where the growth is.

However, pay per call has been around for a long time and a lot of calls still come from radio, print and tv.

Other than mobile search, for online marketing we see publishers succeeding with PPV and some Facebook ads.

Mobile display can work and publishers do succeed with it. But, it needs to be a more general campaign, for everyone. Like psychic, education, Livelinks, etc. There are a lot more "fat finger clicks" or "butt dials" with mobile display, so you need a good IVR before sending calls to the advertiser.

I'm just starting a small-scale experiment into a state-specific campaign, that will mix:
- Organic SEO (city based keyword pages on a state-based website)
- Parasite Rankings (YouTube videos, FB pages, local citations, etc.)
- Mobile PPC

Just getting all of the initial pieces in place, but I think once it's up and running, I will assume that 1/2 of all traffic will be from organic sources, and the other from PPC and paid ad placements. I think that by focusing on city-specific PPC keywords and competitors terms, with those individual cities as the landing pages, quality score should be through the roof, and costs will be much lower and more sustainable.

Hopefully will be a very stackable model for moving into multiple states and verticals as well. Nice to have some diversity on the traffic too, incase there is another major shakeup in any of the industries.

So we'll see if that can be sustainable enough to be another traffic source for Pay-Per-Call marketing!

Very cool, looking forward to hearing about the results from this.

BTW - Never heard of the term "parasite rankings", kinda negative isn't it? Couldn't you call it something more positive, like "assist rankings", "support rankings", "ranking partners". Just a thought.

Haha, ya I guess there should probably be a better phrase associated with it. I just picked that up from somewhere online.

Pop under advertising works very well for pay per call (tech support anyways)

Display works too, just gotta get your landing page dialed in like any other affiliate offer and your ringpool tracking setup correctly. If it's the right vertical, like legal for example, EVERYONE calls. Nobody orders a lawyer online.

^ I have hired many, many lawyers and I can confirm the above point 100%

Search works cause hey, people are actually looking for what you're promoting [well... depending on how broad you choose keywords]

People also combine their Pay Per Call with Lead Gen offers and run facebook traffic [mobile & web] - gives the user two ways convert. EDU is popular here. Rehab is big $$$ on social.

Depending on how targeted your list is, email works - esp. nice if your list tends to open emails on their mobile.

As said above Tech Support is all Pop, PPV, Redirect.
