i was taking a plane flying solo from chiangmai to bangkok. beside me sat a couple, who had issues with their tickets. it's never in my blood to randomly talk to strangers, but this time i just felt the urge to try, so i started off with a joke about their ticket problems. and that was how i got in contact with my very first super affiliate Tim Tetra (wont forget to mention the very awesome friend Hilary too!).
We were just randomly talking about our jobs, i was a poker player at that time and i was proud to share more about how it's like to be a poker pro. but little did i expect that i was actually more interested in their jobs, one being an affiliate marketer and another business consultant.
Tim was awesome enough to invite me to STMBKK and it really opened me to a whole new world.
STMBKK was really awesome,
being able to witness Caurmen, Tim Tetra, Mr Green, BBrock32, NickyCakes, Maynzie, KokoFai, StackMan was an eyeopener. i was impressed not only by their knowledge and wisdom, but also by their professionalism and friendliness (not shady dudes grinding an empire under their mum's basement)!
That was the very day, i knew Affiliate marketing will be my thing.
I immediately signed up to STM for $99. at that time, I honestly thought that it was quite an obscene amount to be paying for a forum, but i did it anyway because i know that cost is not the entire equation, we need to consider VALUE too, and i believed that there has to be great value in this forum for it to be charging $99. i started reading. I still remember how hard it was getting started, all the subforums looks weird to me, where should i start? but i just started from somewhere anyway, and i read, and i read and i read. i kept reading. i would open 1-2 tabs at the start. then 3-4, then 4-5. eventaully i started opening more windows and more tabs, kept doing it until the borwser crash, rinse and repeat for a couple of days. I LOVE STM alrdy!
starting out was tough, real tough.
i faced many problems, so many problems( im sure you guys will know!). i actually made an analogy in my follow along:
" like someone who wants to get into professional gaming. he chooses to focus on being good in starcraft on the PC and he knows its a real time strategy game like warcraft so he expects the challenges to come from learning how to micromanaging units, resource management, unit combos, attack/defend strategy, etc but instead, he's having to solve the windows periodic crashes, fix internet delay issues, find how to get to the multiplayer battle mode because the game menu is just so confusing, dealing with the support of the game because he cannot bind hotkeys and support only works on weekdays and the list goes on."
however,
after all that i have read and learnt, there was only 1 thing that was being repeated constantly everywhere. which is " DO NOT FUCKING GIVE UP, the only time you fail is when u quit."
i had to play poker to fund my AM expenses, that didnt leave me alot of time to work on AM. and i wasnt too motivated at all because i could actually use the time on AM to play more poker and make more $. 1 month in, i roped in my partner, my brother! he wasn't my first choice target, infact he wasn't the right fit at all! he's alittle bit sheltered, doesnt has to worry about his future too much, unmotivated, sleeps alot, and just wanted to follow the flow of life without too much planning. but at the end of the day, he was the most suitable candidate because he was really free waiting to enter university! all that was required now was to light a fire up under his ass! we had some intense talks where i tried to correct his misbeliefs in life, and thankfully it worked because he was convinced, he joined me!
we had the perfect combination,
he work on AM while i work 80% on poker and spend 20% on AM. not too long after we started, i ran pretty bad in poker, so i decided to take a break from poker and focus my efforts on AM.
i flew my partner over to bangkok, had him squeeze in together in my 40sqm apartment where we worked really hard for 1 month, grinding all day only taking breaks for food. we were still losing $, but despite that, we always know that we are on the right track and kept working. sure we had days when one of us would feel demoralised but theres always another around to push another on.
After that 1mth stint in bangkok,
we were still losing $ in AM. but all we did was to NOT FUCKING QUIT. we continue to work on AM, talk to people doing AM, convinced friends around us that AM is awesome. eventually after being 7k$ in the red, we finally hit a winning campaign. and we kept going, and going and going.
Fast forward today,
i grew alot, affiliate marketing had taught me alot that i can apply in all aspects of life
my brother had given up his place in university(top 25 uni in the world) and is now a very motivated self learner.
we are making x,xxx/day profits.
Things have changed for the better.
but we are stilll going, going and going.
some people might think that we are already sucessful, but i only see this as the begining of a very exciting journey.
we are still learning everyday, dabbling into new things everyday, the journey never stops!
and one of the reasons why is because we are grateful, we are grateful to be where we are now, to have the opportunity that not many others have, and that is why we do not wanna waste one bit of this.
we are also very grateful to the following people who have really helped us in our journey so far (in no particular order)
Caurmen+Zeno: thank you for your answers to my annoying noob questions. i always said i appreciate it alot and i really do and still do!
Tim Tetra: thank you for being so nice to share about affiliate marketing and STM with me despite us being somewhat strangers!
Mr Green+Stackman+BBrock32: thank you for STM, all the sharing, inspiring and motivating! what a wonderful community we have here!
Benjamin Yong: thank you for all your help the last time in singapore where u spend time talking and helping me out with my questions!
Charles Ngo: thank you very much for all your time and help, whether in Singapore/Bangkok or on facebook/Twitter you've always helped me out personally with my questions. appreciate it alot!
For all those newbies/strugglers reading this right now, the $ is real just "DONT FUCKING QUIT"
just keep asking questions learning and testing. forum will help, people mentioned in this list will help,
heck pm me and i will help too!
didnt mean to write such a long story, but it just all came out..
and so..... i guess i'll see u guys in vegas, and STM LONDON!!!!!
TLDR cliffs:
i struggled
i'm making $x,xxx/day profits now
thank you STM
*2016 updates*
Got myself an Audi R8 V10 Spyder. If you havent found success dont give up!

This is really awesome and inspiring.
"You can't fail if you never give up"
Thanks for the share.
Another great success story!
Thank you - it truly validates that STM as a platform is helping people make their way in the IM world when we see these kinds of successes.
"DONT FUCKING QUIT"
That's the formula!
I loved reading this post! Thanks! I also can't wait to write one of my own... and then to look back on this thread... and see myself talking about it... whoa, goosebumps
Wow Rio! Congrats man. Things have changed so much since we met! Hard work pays off and you deserved it!
Great job man
That's a epic story!
Awesome and inspiring story!
You have a killer mindset.
See you in London and Vegas mate!
Truly inspirational. All of this came from saying hello!
Great job bro. Now show us your xx,xxx days. You can do it
very inspiring man...Keep it up. And dont forget to post when you reach xx,xxx/day
Finally! I knew the day would come to you because of your attitude of "not giving up"! Congrats my friend and you definitely deserve what you have achieved today!
So now you just got to keep on working on your campaigns and you'll soon hit the 6 figures club.
Again it has proven that "The only way to succeed in this business is by not giving up". So true and your story is so inspiring!
P.S. Do not spend the money on the nightlifes in BKK yeah. haha!!!
Great job man, I think my main piece of advice to you before you went to the event was that even though there was a ton of stuff you had to learn, as long as you kept diligently working even when it seemed like you hit a dead end and kept making tangible progress in your testing that you would succeed. Keep it up!
what an awesome story ... u deserve it mate ... i hope one day i have the courage and determination to tell my story here
its been less than a week for me here.. so far its been pretty awesome ...
yes something about STM - i cant seem to hang on to one tab (my google chrome crashes continuously too its only my 18th new tab now)
Quick tip for folks who are just starting ut:
Given how much time Tim Tetra spends on planes, your chances of finding yourself on a same flight as him at least once in your lifetime is close to 100%.
If this happens, do whatever you can to bribe other passengers so that you can sit next to him and soak up all of his wisdom.
Carpe diem!
Amazing story, funny how life can take a 180 turn eh? Very well deserved!
Now just keep going, you seem to have the perfect mentality. Good luck!
Good thread. Someone once told me: nobody ever failed AM, they only gave up before becoming successful.
It's easy to get down and want to quit when you're campaigns are sucking greenbacks, and you have to build 20 more #$%^$1* banners. This post makes your chin tilt a little higher and your head cock to the side...keep fu----g going....
unless you have something stable x,xxx or even xx,xxx profits come and go.
what matters is your mindset and knowing that its possible.
#nevergiveup crew
Fucking awesome, man. Congratulations.
Brilliant, great to read of your success...keep it up!
Holy shit man, this is my favoruite testimonial/story ever from STM!
Congrats & Thanks!
thank you guys for all the nice words!
so excited for vegas and STM london, gonna start 2015 with a huge bang!!!
i know how much this section meant to me when i first started, so i really hope to give something back!
anyone who wants to be there, but cannot be there due to financial constrains, good news, still have 3months left for vegas, and 6mths left for STM London!
heads up, lets get cracking!
We started this section because nothing is more motivating then seeing people share their success stories.
Everything becomes a lot more believable when you see X amount of people from 30 different countries all saying the same thing. The idea is to make it click before you see results yourself. Hopefully this section does that for some poople.
awesome rio! You're the boss. Hope we'll sit next to each other on the flight to vegas *winkwink* haha
You totally deserved it man! And as you said, this is just the beginning...
See ya in Vegas!
So Amazing! LOVE your story bro!! Keep up the good work
Anyone who is hesitating about attending the next Bangkok conference hosted by STM (Affiliate World Asia) in December should read this entire thread!!!
Awesome story, thanks for share
This is what it's all about. Great story and very inspiring for all of us. I've been trying to make money online for close to 4 years, and only had a few minor successes here and there. But nothing even close to being life changing or even a monthly income. It's been all a bit pathetic really. I think I probably only earned around $3000 in total in those 4 years and I spent way more than that on my AM education plus tools and web hosting ! But I'm still here and I won't give up. I believe my success will come one day soon because nothing worthwhile comes easy. You have to fight and show you want it before you get rewarded. Life's like that. Nobody gets rewarded with a dream life by sitting on their ass every day watching TV. Sticking at it (and doing the work) plus belief is the key.
Thanks for your story man. I always love reading stuff like that. It helps us all to keep the faith.
Awesome story, very inspiring.
Cool!
3 months into my AM journey. Hit some green and many more red campaigns. I'm in this for the long haul and reading this thread just made my day.
Currently on the flight to Bangkok (40 mins out) and can't wait to soak in the knowledge and meet the affiliate community.
Hopefully I can one day say that AWA Bangkok changed my life too, somehow I feel it just might
.
"Don't fucking quit"
It's really awesome and inspiring me a lot! Thanks for your sharing, bro!
This is awesome! Congrats
