Call With Facebook - Q&A

Hey guys,

A few weeks ago Facebook reached out to me and wanted to get on a call. I had that call with them earlier this afternoon and got some pretty decent info (and another great adspend increase =P).

Here is a summary of the questions I asked and the answers I got:

1) Will Facebook be adding more sophisticated targeting (Ethnicity, Divorced, etc)?
--- I was told that specific answers on that were confidential. She did, however, imply that they are def. working on adding a few more targeting options in the near future. I was kinda let down by the vagueness of her answer, but oh well.

2) Are email/zip submits getting shut-down completely on FB?
--- She told me that was not true, but she couldn't speak for individual ad reviewers opinions as they are so unpredictable. I was advised to always be truthful in the add about participation requirements and to state memberships were necessary (if applicable). She also advised me to stay away from "today only" urgency statements if they were not true. Also said to keep the adcopy more like "email/zip and participation required" style.

3) Can I call out user gender/ethnicity/age?
--- I already knew this was a for sure NO. But, I asked anyways. She did, however, told me I could call out user specifics if the product called for that specific user. Another words "Single Ebony Women Wanted" would be suitable for a camp. like blackpeoplemeet.com.

4) Why do only 3 out of 50 of my ads get impressions most of the time?
--- Facebook has a self-optimizing algorithm that filters out low CTR ads. I told her it optimized wayyyy to fast. When one or two of my ads get good CTRS it just shuts all of the ads down pretty much and most of them never get more than a few hundred impressions (if any). She was really surprised to hear this and said they never have feedback on that situation before and said it was great feedback and it would be addressed with whomever she reports to. For the mean time, she recommended something I already do (building a camp with 50 ads but only running 5 at a time to test for ctr and then pausing). This is just a hassle though. I suggested that their system not optimize ads out of rotation until they've had at least 5k impressions - enough to judge good/bad ctr in my opinion.

5) How much do you need to spend a month to have a dedicated account manger?
--- The minimum adspend required to be appointed an account manager is 30k per month. She appointed me one today so we'll see how that goes.

The conversation lasted about 30 minutes and she was really nice. I asked why she reached out to me and she replied with "We are trying to connect with some of our bigger spending accounts with a decent amount of history. Just to see if we can answer any questions and help with your campaigns/scale".

She also followed up with me after the call - stating that she just increased my spending limit on both accounts, by 5k each. I enjoyed that fact =)

Hope this helps everyone. -- And if anyone can think of any questions they'd like asked in the future, if I get on another call with them i'll keep em listed in a document and try to get answers.

No prob ya'll!

--- And please, feel free to reply with questions you may have in the future. I have a contact there now and can most likely get answers for everyone. I don't want to bug them 24/7, but was welcomed to email my girl with Q's.

Lol now if they could only tell me why my Facebook account was Banned and why they won't even let me grab the billing info out of it.

Nice nice, thanks Adrian

wish they had a better answer for 'Why do only 3 out of 50 of my ads get impressions most of the time?'

Jr -- I was told by FB that some zip/email submits were allowed. They prefer membership email/zip submits .... which there aren't many of. They don't like reg paths to CPA Walls. But, you can always cloak if you really wanna get em through. Or you could just build LPs to capture emails and redirect to a zip submit (to x out the redundancy) and build a list as well. Iono, just an idea never done it before.

I've been cloaking lol. Let's talk some time on AIM. I think at the moment they are just shutting down new accounts

Stackman,
Do you have a dedicated manager? Would be kinda weird to have one that can see whether you cloak your links or not.

can someone give me an example (doesnt have to be a current running offer) for 'prefer membership email/zip submits'

TIA
