Hi, need some expertise please. Trying to get setup for first campaign.
I have a VPS over at Bluehost which I have installed Wordpress on the main domian expecting to use Optimize Press. (I am no longer going to use per advice found here)
I also have CPVLab installed in a subfolder
Can I create a sub-domain, sub-directory or add-on domain to host landing pages and is there any preference between them?
Is there a downside to having all three Wordpress, CPVLabs and Landing Pages. I plan to use a little program called Visual Site Designer by Coffee Cup in the short term for landing pages while I determine if I should learn something more professional as Adobe Muse, Googe Web Designer. ...Also open to suggestions about that.
Thanks in Advance, Dean
I don't know if CPV Lab has any preferences for installation structure but usually you would not install a tracking system in a subfolder - you would use a subdomain or normal domain (addon domain in cPanel) so that it was in the root of its directory.
You can put landers wherever you want but I would recommend using another domain so to keep things separate.
The downside to having them all together, other than any preferred config for the tracking system, is that you are generally making things messy.
Your tracking system will be complex and require many files and folders. Do you really want to bury a folder called 'landers' inside all of that and then have FTP access to your tracking system all the time, where you might accidentally screw something? Nope. Same with WP.
So, my advice, install tracking system in an addon domain e.g. track.
Run landers through a completely different addon domain.
Run WP through a completely different addon domain or as a subdomain, e.g. wp.landers.com
It all comes from the same server but the address bar will look cleaner and you won't have so much chaos when uploading via FTP.
