Hey guys,
I have a question that needs some background info preceding.
My name is Luke Voigt. I am 21 years old and currently working part time. I'm ambitious, self-disciplined, and hard-working. I tried college after highschool and decided it was a waste of time when I realized I could be working towards my fortune while my friends accumulate 4 years of debt. However, I've found myself bouncing from part-time minimum wage job/network marketing part time as my financial dreams slowly fade. You see, my vision is to be financially free by age 25, for me this goal is represented by the symbol of $1,000,000 in my savings. For the past 3 years I've read all the personal development books I can get a hold of, watched every YouTube video I could find, and studied tony robbins tapes inside and out.
I plan to continue my network marketing career, and I've realized that in order to meet my goal, I need work available for while everyone else is sleeping. The question is;
Given my background, with no experience in internet marketing, would you recommend affiliate marketing for me long term? I know the markets are rapidly changing and I understand that me catching up to industry basics could take quite a bit of time. I'm aware this is a great time to be involved in affiliate marketing, but is this a good time to start a quest, or did I miss the boat?
Hi man,
Of course it's a good time to start and you do not miss the boat. Every time I talk to people about Internet business, they give me that fucking answer "well, it's too late now, the great time was at the beginning in the 19xx when ebay and blablabla".
Do you need way more traffic then before to make the same amount of money ? Yes
Is there way more people then before on the Internet ? Yes
Are we just as the beginning of the Mobile thing ? Oh yes !
You have spend 3 years reading great book and teach yourself, you have done the biggest part of the work and now you can think outside the box.
You are only 21 years old, you are lucky as you have plenty of time !
By my experience, as I'm 31 right now and doing great in Internet business :
- Do not focus on having $1,000,000 in you bank account, that's a shitty gold
> When you will have $1M, the only thing you'll want is $10M, trust me
> The more you go on this path, the less you will be able to spend that money
> It takes money to make money, having a gold like this put you in a way of thinking where you want to save money, not spend money
> You should have a gold where you finish the day happy and does not have the sensation to work, because life is supposed to be fun
> You can die at 25, if you have spend 4 years to make $1M and die, what's the point ?
> You want to live now, not at 25, or possibly at 35 if things doesn't goes the way you wish and you are still not at $1M at 25...
- You should focus on making a solid business that bring you money every day
> The work you do every day should improve your business, so your output rise over the months/years
> Don't go for small and quick output, it take times to make your empire online. Go for cumulative outputs over time
> I suppose you already read it, but if not (?) you should : The 4-Hour Workweek
- Do what you just said you should do : work when people are sleeping !
> Since 3 months now, I'm doing polyphasic sleep, that mean that now I sleep 5h20 per day (biphasic) instate of the 7h per day I was sleeping before. That's 1h40 of additional time I can spend doing other things.
> You can go from 7h of sleep per day to 2h of sleep per day, that's 5h per day you can spend on your business
> Read this to get more info on polyphasic sleep : https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...polyphasic-sle
> If I were 21 as you are, I will probably go for Dymaxion with 4 naps a day as at this age I was traveling less and it was easy to socialise during the day (now people work during the day)
It's never to late to start and you sound like you have traits that could make you a very successful affiliate marketer.
However, unless you already have a decent amount of savings, I wouldn't quit your day job.
In fact, if you are ambitious, you are in a much better position to pursue affiliate marketing on the side -- using your excess from your day job to learn in this industry.
Joining STM was a good move - we have more than a lot of content here that will help you learn how this industry operates, and since you seem to be all for reading/learning, I say dive in!
Very cool responses, thank you. I appreciate the wise words, "givizator". I have read the book a few times, I'm sure subconsciously that's why I'm here. I've also been introduced to the various sleep cycles and have practiced them on and off over the years. Thank you for putting me in check with my financial goals as well.
Thank you Zeno! During the brief reading I've done on here, I seem to have enough to get started 1.5k in savings that I can afford to lose (also 2k credit line).
I read a few stickies on getting started, and saw that choosing one traffic source is a must. Mobile attracts me due to it being newer and seemingly less initial start up $. Would you guys, and whoever reading this recommend mobile as the best "niche" to master if one had to choose for this upcoming year?
Also. I read a couple horror stories of people getting railed on the revenues of their business. Is it, and if so when is it advisable to incorporate? LLC
I would really suggest you break down your goals into smaller sized chunks. If my goal was to have a body like the Arnold at his peak in the next 12 months, it would be easy for me to get discouraged very quickly.
If instead I set smaller shorter term goals (e.g lose 1 pound of fat each week for the next 4 weeks), then it is a lot easier.
I remember earring on a recent podcast a guy that said his goal is to improve something in this life by 1% each month. After 6 months, he had made a jump on that thing. After a year, he is now far away from what he was at the beginning, with just a tiny constant effort.
That's a personal improvement that works like compound interest, that's not that much but that cumulate over time, each cycle bring more on the total.
I think that way of thinking is just awesome and I've start doing this for every aspect of my life / work I want to improve.
