I outlined my psychological rules and methodology in this post

http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...light=critique

The only difference is now I am using this to cut offers with 85% confidence http://www4.zippyshare.com/v/58635900/file.html.

Notes:

1. If I get a greater than 50% "No" on profitable, for the offer, I'll drop the offer, but if in the campaign there are pockets of gold then I'll cut most of the offer but make a campaign hitting those areas.

Let's Begin

Offer: DU battery Saver
Payout: .25 cents
Traffic source: Decisive

I've had success with this campaign in African countries, but after cutting bad placements their volume was so low that it was not worth my time pursuing.

I took the leading banners and landing pages and translated them into Spanish to target Spain and Mexico.

Decisive Spain:

Decisive Mexico:

Notice how some of the placements aren't reaching $4.00 spend. I find it weird that after 18 hours they have barely spent close to $1. Is it worth running these more or is the volume so bad I should cut with the rest of the campaign?

Voluum Mexico

Notice landing page CTR is horrific. I made sure the LPS worked on different phone models as well as getting a speed test and nothing was wrong. However I realized their was a grammatical error in the play store LP with the "a un 2.3 horas." So I switched the campaign to just the instruction lander and direct link.

Landing pages:

My math evaluation of this ad:

My conclusion

There is a clear consensus, in my math, that the offer is bad. Likewise there aren't any pockets of gold inside. I believe this offer/angle should just be thrown out (what a shame) and I need to look for a new offer or try a new angle.

The LP CTR was awful. I'm not sure why, there was continuity between the banners "benefits" and the LP's benefits. In addition, these banner combos have worked elsewhere for me.

Questions:

1. I've now started 4 campaigns and although I've had conversions never more than 1 to 4 on a given $4 spend in really cheap locations. (.10 CPM).

What does a good campaign look like in the beginning? I assume it would show a decent number of conversions and at least be close to 50% ROI before any cuts. Am I right?

2. With a binomial calculator I can see that if a placement has 900 impressions and 0% Ctr then, with high confidence, the placement is unlikely to get a reasonable CTR. Of course it could still convert and have a decent conversion rate, but I figure the chances it converts go way down if it gets so few clicks and thus it's worth cutting since the objective should be to spend time of things that look promising and not work waste time in unpromising territory.

3. What is a good methodology for picking offers? Currently I look for a low payout offer that is doing high volume. What are some other things I can take into consideration?

4. This offer just feels like a waste of money. I don't see anything that I can take from this ad except for a few banners. Is there information I should study that may be helpful for a future campaign?

5. In terms of landing pages what is some advice from you guys?

Was all the traffic via the LP?

You can't conclude that the offer is bad if you only sent a dozen or so clicks to it, due to poor LP CTR.

1. Optimising mobile campaigns is a very multicomponent process. You can start at -95% ROI and cull weak placements, change bid, improve banners/landers, test other angles and so on and reach 30% ROI. There is no rule here, but I would generally go by -50% ROI direct linked being indicative of great potential!

2. Yes.

3. Low payouts are just useful for getting CVR data at low spends, but there is no reason why a $10 payout offer won't do well. It depends more on what the user actually has to do and where the conversion point is, versus the cost of the traffic. Ask your AM and look for offers that are converting well and have had reasonable volume - they need no be getting xxx, xxx+ clicks daily.

4. You mean in your campaign specifically? If it tanked hard then just note down if the banners didn't work well, note down any placements that burned impressions with no or few clicks so that you can blacklist them immediately with future campaigns, etc.

5. Lander was nice and simple. You should split test though. I would have at least duplicated the lander and edited the CSS to basically invert the entire thing to a dark version.

As far as not getting volume - have you tried bidding higher? Mexico has some offers that quite a few people are running right now, which is likely to push the bid costs up. And carrier traffic is always significantly more expensive.

Not yet. Do you think it's worth it to keep running this offer with only 1 conversion to date?

Also is there a way I can also know information like, " Mexico has some offers that quite a few people are running right now?"

At 2,000+ clicks, unless the data was skewed over a couple of placements, I would likely ditch it.

As for the latter, that's more about keeping your ear to the ground. If MX mobile offers are doing volume at networks... and your AM's say so... someone has to be running them, just by pure inference.

I'd bid higher on the carrier campaigns to get more volume and see how they do, but ditch the wifi campaigns. Some offers just don't convert or don't convert well on wifi.

you shouldn't doubt dubattery, it's always in the top offer list on alot of networks. people do volume on this offer, so it should definitely work.
*hint i also run low payout CPIs*

good luck buddy hope u find some sucess soon!

I think it is definitely worth trying some different market with Battery saver since it accepts global traffic. Some countries don't have a lot of offers but do have a decent amount of traffic. For Mexico and Spain there are a ton of affiliate offers so the market is probably quite competitive. The low payout of a global offer might not be enough then

The green lander design looks good. With 27kb its also light, although I think you can probably get this type of LP under 10kb. The black LP looks a but long, have you checked whether the button doesnt fall below the fold on small Android devices?
