If I have 30kb ad and a 60kb ad does it make a difference for me as the affiliate or it doesn't matter?
a sub 60kb banner is pretty small to begin with, shouldnt see much of a difference between performance. but yeah, you want to have banner sizes as small as you can, especially with mobile
I don't think anyone has reported enough data on the influence of banner size on mobile networks for us to have a conclusive answer!
I know that PNGs won't suffer from mobile carrier recompression so I try to use them unless file sizes get too big.
On Facebook for example they use a compressions system so your original banner is not what is actually delivered, so you can upload hefty images.
I imagine other ad networks may employ similar tactics.
mm that's bad news, it does make sense that you need your banners to be lighter, although now I think about it, the user isn't really going anywhere in most cases, well but then again they do change app/site pages rather quick.
