Hi,
I am a newbie when it comes to adult traffic.
I am testing a few campaigns using Exoclick as a traffic source and a few casual dating offers.
Are there any "golden rules" for banner CTR, Lander CTR and conversion rate. Of course the golden rule is a decent ROI, but I am thinking, in the optimization phase - what are decent numbers for those metrics?
Best,
J!
it all vastly depends on what country you are running, as they will all show different stats and what you can expect, but ill give ya some ballpark figures
banner CTR? iuno, around 0.15-0.30% is pretty average. 0.50% and over is quite excellent. places like the US you can see much lower banner CTR
offer CR, if you are running in a poorer country like Brazil, Argentina, Russia etc you can see a CR of ~~~5-10% will be higher for places like Australia, Germany, France, Canada Italy etc. but those countries you have a lot more offers to choose from, and they can have a big range in payouts, especially when you have more options for SOI and DOI. tier 3 geos, you can be a bit limited on offers to run, and they *usually* kick around the $1.00 payout starting
these figures im just kinda randomly pulling out. but its a decent pallpark figure.
in terms of "golden rules", your strongest assets will be your offer and your traffic source. you should be focusing on quality as much as you can. dont fuck yourself over for some cheap conversions by running stuff in your banners like "no credit card needed".
with great quality comes great scaling opportunities.
As angry-old-lady said, its gonna be very different from placement to placement and offer to offer. But there is an average you will be floating around. In terms of banner CTR, you dont want to fall below 0.10% and you will rarelly go over 0.2%. Keep in mind I said its an AVERAGE, you will of course hit banners with 0.3% ctr and above, just as you might have profitable banners with 0.08% ctr. In terms of conversions, and this is an average again, you want to float around the 10% mark, so 1 lead in 10 qualified LP clickthroughs, you will do ok with lower conversion with a higher paying DOI offer for example, and you might need to convert better than that with a lower paying SOI offer. Another important metric for you will be the LP CTR, you want to go above 30%, thou this is just average again, I've had profitable campaigns with 20% LP ctr or even less.
In the end, you will need to look at any campaign as a standalone beast and compare the numbers specific to that particular campaign. If you can get cheap traffic, the CVR and CTR can be lower and you will still profit, with expensive traffic you need to aim higher. But as a starting point aim for this in higher paying GEOS : banner ctr around 0.15%, LP CTR 30%+ and CVR as close to 10% as possible on a SOI offer.
There is really only one metric that matters: Are you profitable?
ZeroPark showed this screenshot.

Note the variation in CTR, CVR, etc. Those figures ultimately don't matter as long as you're profitable.
So, if your profit is negative, first work to increase your CTR to get more people seeing the offer. Once your incremental gains to CTR are too small to justify the effort in gaining them, focus on your landing page.
amazing screenshot and the correct answer to this question.
Thanks for your great replies... Very useful
Especially running RON traffic on exo the ctr will fluctuate a lot per placement.
What I haven't seen mentioned yet though is the difference between mobile and desktop traffic. In my experience mobile ads have a higher ctr (probably due to misclicks) but are of a lower quality overall. But what jennatalia said it's all about the profit cpv vs epv
WOW, Im printing out that screenshot as inspiration
