F&%$ MyWoT, Help STM! (37)

09-07-2014 07:26 AM #1 Mr Green (Administrator)
F&%$ MyWoT, Help STM!

Our kind friends over at MyWot seem to dislike STM. STM's rating is "poor" even though it seems that 100% of votes have been positive.

That just simply ain't kosher.

So I'm calling on the STM Army to overthrow MyWot's dictatorship regime.

Please be so kind to take 60 seconds out of your money making day to make the world a better place.

Step 1: Go here https://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/stmforum.com
Step 2: Rate STM.
Step 3: Submit that shit!

Dankje

- Mr G

LOL at this review - "Good forum with quality info and lots of good looking guys with above average dancing skills."

Haha someone has insider info.

I always speak truthfully in reviews when I'm not hawking a product.
And nudity is good but not intended for children.

Do you think the @#$@mywot will be pleased at some point?

Voted. This could only be done by a competitor or someone who's butthurt about the success of STM.

In other words:

02-20-2015 05:20 PM #11 Mr Green (Administrator)

Ahh thanks for bumping this definitely need to move forward on this one, MyWot is so flawed.

Dumb site.
But rated, all the same - still says we're a bunch of hobos, though... maybe it's right and we're just deluded.

do we REALLY have competitors ?

I'd say "who count themselves as competitors"

The MyWot rating is just ridiculous.

I won't lie, the name Stackthatmoney.com probably gives the wrong impression to the outside masses.

But inside, this is one of THE most positive, educational, and value creating forums in the world.

I hear that stackman is to blame for the name.

Just done my part. Never heard about myWot before.

"WOT has detected unusual behavior on the scorecard and new rating has been disabled. You can still rate this site using the add-on."

just rated from toolbar...

05-17-2015 08:11 AM #21 h0mp (Member)

I just read the MYWOT thread. I have to say that it's utterly frustrating to be at the mercy of such ignorant idiots and rated the MYWOT site as "Scam".. only beause "Fascist" wasn't an option.

05-17-2015 08:22 AM #22 Mr Green (Administrator)

^^ they will go down in flames in the very near future if they don't address their ridiculousness. It's all out on display for the public, they can't continue like this for much longer.

05-17-2015 08:51 AM #23 emcrow (AMC Alumnus)

I had already given STM a positive rating...so the only thing left to do was to mark mywot.com as suspicious.

05-17-2015 09:06 AM #24 affiliaxeguy (Member)

Done lets make them hurt!
had to download the Add on just to be able to rate it. but Done!

05-17-2015 09:43 AM #25 h0mp (Member)

it doesn't seem to matter how many positive votes are submitted. Actual votes from forum users are just regarded as spam.

And then some pathetic internet heroes come along and put negative votes on a site they don't know shit about... seriously, people like that should be rebilled into the gutter with a "How To Become A True Internet Cop" offer.

05-17-2015 10:46 AM #26 kepe95 (Moderator)

Wow, just wow. Have been reading their posts on WOT for half an hour now... completely ridiculous, but not funny at all considering the harm it does. Not just on FB but also the popup when you've got the plugin installed.

The way to deal with it is clearly not on their platform, but on the places where they're not in control and can get rooted out.
Here quick action links if you'd like to get involved, not just for STM but also in exposing the power abuse through WOT generally.

1. Complain on Facebook about them using the WOT rating system, point out the issues: https://www.facebook.com/help/contact/268228883256323/

2. Negative review and rating on the Chrome browser plugin: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...pbikblnp?hl=en
2.1. Report an abuse to Google for the plugin: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/r...pbikblnp?hl=en

3. Negative review and rating on the Firefox browser plugin: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...dl-mostpopular
3.1. Report an abuse to Firefox for the plugin: *scroll down on the link above, button is on the right side*

4. (Limited) If you've got a good Wikipedia reputation, you could add a paragraph "Controversy" and point out the issues: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WOT_Services

5. (Very Limited) If you or your business is big enough and directly negatively influenced by WOT bullshit in a major way, you could consider a lawsuit

If you are a WOT victim:

- Discussion on their platform is pretty pointless, don't even try, only if you want to "expose them" clearly, but this has been done already over and over...

- Ask your community to give you good reviews (but do not try to get too much attention / start a discussion with the myWOT internet superheros)

- Consider staying low for a couple weeks and then pay someone who knows what he's doing a couple hundred bucks to get your rating up again (should be easy to find this on freelancer sites)

The main mistake is voting by going through the first post's link.
They can easily check a referrer.

The better solution is to link through anonym.to, or ask members to copy/paste the link.

And anyway, wtf?
This forum is a trusted source for affiliates and marketers and people who subscribe don't look at stupid ratings.

Online reputation is a profitable business for some people and you can expect the worst.

Slightly off topic, but I had an experience when one of my big sites (1-2 mils visitors/month) got hit with neg ratings, neg SEO and other bs.
Surely a half of traffic disappeared.

I dedicated some time to find who was behind it, in which country, and what can I do in the future.

Long story short, I pinpointed assholes, paid local mobs (relatively cheap on specialized darknet forums) to visit guys and invoice them to approximate loss.
They shitted in their pants and still cover my expenses.

IMO, not the best way to go, but it worked.
The only thing you want to be sure and state to mobs, that you don't want to hurt anybody much.
Otherwise they can interpret any outcome possible, and you don't want to get someone hurt or dead in the worst case.

I'm away now, so wanted to use mobile and here is what it says:

" WOT has detected unusual behavior on the scorecard and new rating has been disabled. You can still rate this site using the add-on."

I will rate of course asap, but on the other hand Charles Ngo had some nasty experiences recently as well, so I think some 'heroes' are trying to bank there...

It's not about the affiliates, I think. STM simply doesn't deserve a bad rating and other parties (Facebook) use MyWoT as a guidance. So, one probably can't use paid promotion on FB for STM and linking to STM from within posts will probably trigger the Link Shim interstitial warning.

Agree with this.

I think using their platform at all is a step in the wrong direction.

It suggests that it's worth the time of day, when from most accounts, it isn't.

Better to find ways to ridicule and draw attention to their shite system rather than try to game it.

That FB uses MyWoT is the main problem, period.

I can confirm that promoting some of our posts has triggered ad account bans. Yes, it's that ridiculous.

"
It is unclear how many users would install the extension if they knew how "WOT" handled their data. The company, which is based in Finland, apparently provides insufficiently alienated data to third parties. Users can be blackmail under these circumstances.
[...]

In order not to help criminals, the NDR SPIEGEL ONLINE did not want to tell how exactly the journalists of the channel managed to identify the users behind the record. The talk is of more than 50 users. Apparently, the NDR team has also contacted individual victims who confirmed the research.
[...]

In total, the data set will contain ten billion web addresses, including site calls from around three million users from Germany. From which company the data was offered is unclear. Among the users, there are also private users, such as managers, politicians, policemen, judges, prosecutors and journalists.
"

"
[...] The data obtained was traceable to WOT and trivial to assign to specific individuals, identifying e.g. the SM interests of a judge, internal accounting information of a media company and many individuals' health related search queries. In some cases, the data was even sufficient to allow identity theft. Links to a cloud storage site allowed access to bank statements and passport scans belonging to a manager from Hamburg.
"

LOL Wasn't one of the WoT mods "Super Hero"'s complaints for rating STM untrustworthy that STM shares data with 3rd parties like Google Analytics.

The www.mywot.com racket has been exposed

http://www.spiegel.de/netzwelt/web/w...a-1119236.html

"WOT has made money by collecting browsing history data from its users and selling that usage data; it said that it anonymized the data before selling it.

On November 1, 2016, German public broadcasting station NDR reported the results of an investigation by in-house journalists, showing that WOT collected, recorded, analyzed and sold user-related data to third parties. The data obtained was traceable to WOT and could be assigned to specific individuals, despite WOT's claim that user data was anonymized. The NDR investigative journalism report was based on freely available sample data, and revealed that sensitive private information of more than 50 users could be retrieved. The information included websites visited, account names and email addresses, potentially revealing user illnesses, sexual preferences and drug consumption. The journalists also reconstructed a media company's confidential revenue data, and details about an ongoing police investigation.

German media contacted WOT with the results of the investigation prior to publication of the report. WOT declined to comment on the findings.

A few days after the news story aired, Mozilla removed the browser add-on from the Firefox add-on store. WOT subsequently removed its browsing tool for other browsers, including Chrome and Opera. The WOT "Mobile Security & Protection" mobile app was removed from Google Play, approximately one week after the extension was removed from the Google Chrome extension store."
