21 angles - What do you think?

Hi!

I'm working on a win 100$ sweeptakes offer for electronic store, I did angle ideas and wanted your guys input on them, plus what angles you can come up with.
Here's the list, notice it gets more defined towards the end:

get a new tv
get a new camera
It's time you get a new phone
get ps4
pump your room with new high quality speakers
give him a present he won't forget
buy a tablet
buy the new video game
buy earphones
treat yourself
store is in your area doing promotion
play the new awesome ps4
buy with no guilt
time to enjoy the new hd screen
you deserve your memories in high quality - get an hd camera
stop putting off buying a tv
get the new phone while your friends stay behind
get the new tv while your friends stay behind
invite all your friends to show off your new ps4
indulge in hours of playing the new call of duty
wait until your friends see you have the new iphone!

my 2 top angle picks are:
indulge in hours of playing the new call of duty
you deserve your memories in high quality - get an hd camera

I canceled most ideas because a lot of them cost more than 100$. Still, what do you think I missed?

Dvir

All your angles are focused around electronics, you do realize 100 sweepstakes offers can fit in almost any niche? Why are you sticking to just electronics

HI Dvir, as per vidivo, there are loads, I saw some nice angles featured round sporting events, i.e. a lander, Win xxx by answering this quiz: DO you think X team or Y team will win, either result takes you through to the lander email submit

Hi vidivo, it's because it's a 100$ voucher for electronics store

p.s. I'm thinking the call of duty angle is too copyright problematic, damn it

If you understand this you will most probably have a LOT more success running sweeps.

ok thanks for the answers, but I'm afraid I'm still missing the point
The offer is 100$ for an electronics store, so I don't understand how can I advertise food voucher or anything non electronics in this case.

These angles are made specifically for this offer.

dvir I dont have specific expirence, but I can say from testing point of view

you angles are too similar to each other,

if things are not working you should try something that is very different

create 3-4 tests that totally different from each other should be enough

Instead of thinking of it literally as a electronics voucher, you could think of it as a "gift". People can earn gifts in various manners. Whether they complete a small survey, pass a short quiz, win at a mini game. The options are endless if think of it in that way.

ok great. I think I'm beginning to understand, this thread was a good idea.
So for example mr green says to focus on how to sell the offer instead of focusing on what I'm selling?

Using your pointers I developed the following angles, let me know if it's an improvement or if you did a face palm

win a prize by completing this survery (survey ideas: phone use, tv time, activities with friends, reading habits, favorite characters/movies,)
win a prize by beating this game- then list of simple games etc.
win a prize by passing the quizz - ok tons of quizz ideas( trivia)

But I still can't promote it as a 100$ gift for anything, I mean my angle can't be win 100$ for spa because they see it's for freaking electronics store?

Guess I'm confused!

Yep you are on the right track with your angles. And yes, you can't change the fact that it's a "freaking" electronic store voucher. But that ain't an issue, the voucher is very broad appealing.

This case study I posted could be a good template for you testing out ideas.

For your surveys it's more effective to make 100's of smaller campaigns, as opposed to one big campaign. So you could start off targeting people interested in certain movies and quiz them about it.

mm thanks for the insights. I will try splitting them and going nitche.

One question remains, how do I target specific movie like superman for example on mobile? Can I target by keyword I didn't came across it. Only way I can think of is by finding specific app/site and making campaigns for those. Or I'm missing something?

Ah I thought you were talking about Facebook.

On RTBs you would need to use an extremely broad angle like a free generic game or quiz.

@dvir0776 - I'd break this one down a bit more in order to get all the angles you can out of it.

Start by figuring out every category of product (or at least, a lot of categories) that you can buy at an electronics store. http://www.amazon.co.uk/electronics-camera-mp3-ipod-tv/ may be helpful here!

Then, for each category, you can go through and develop two or three (or more) angles. Use benefits, use fears, use the 7 Deadly Sins, use the Swiss Army Knife approach, consider how a superhero would sell it, etc.

Then you can add all the other ideas MrGreen gave you into the mix too! That should give you more angles than you know what to do with.

that's a great way to look at it, thanks caurmen and you're right, that's definitely more angles than I'd know what to do with
only thing left is implement!

I recently took a group of students through an angle generation exercise for one offer, and in the course of 30 minutes we ended up with considerably more than 100 distinctly different possible angles for the offer in question!

Almost any offer has literally hundreds of potential "ways in" - the trick is finding techniques to cast your mind wide enough to see them.

BIG point!

Mix up your niches and ideas here. Keep 10 around electronics, then try MANY other things.

Diapers, Books, Airfare etc

thanks for all the help.

but stackman, how can I use an angle that's related to airfare for example when promoting this electronics voucher, it still doesn't make sense.

Can you give me one angle as an example?

Headline: Will you fly Air Malaysia?
Picture of empty plane
Vote now and stand a chance to win a reward
Vote YES - Vote NO

next page...Congratulations...ec ec

That's a simple example BUT you need to think outside the box otherwise you won't stand a chance with these types of offers

09-11-2014 03:18 AM #19 dvir0776 (Member)

thanks for the reply deondup! Holy crap that does mean inifinite possibilities. I'll have to sit on this one

09-11-2014 04:53 PM #20 stackman (Administrator)

There's LOTS of unique angles to take, deon's is a great example.

Think things that apply to everyone, so you don't lose potential interested people by a question they aren't interested in answering. Things with controversy are usually good.
