Some doubts and questions in running PPV!

Hi,

I have some questions and doubt in running ppv campaigns and i need advise from the experienced one.

I have tried to run several CPA offers (lead gen - not email submit) and most of them have 0 conversion.

How do i determine whether i should continue testing a particular offer?

Let take an example of the current offer i am trying.

Currently i am testing a game offer converts on sign up of profile (SOI) - pay out $3.

The game is a 3rd person shooting game.

-I have scrapped 50 targets relating to shooting game.
- I have tested direct linking with $10 - 0 conversion.
- Next, i created a landing page and i only use it on 5 targets from the 50 targets i have scrapped.
- Tested again using $10 - ard 600 impressions - 16 clicks - CTR ard 2.6% - 0 Conversions

At this point of time what should i do?
How much money should i continue use to test for this offer with $3 payout.
Is my target way off or there is a problem with this offer or my testing method is wrong or not enough?
*On the average, usually out of how many offers you have tested, one offer will succeed (for lead gen)?

Need some advice on this. I believe if i get the procedure right, it can be applied to many of my other campaigns as well.

Thanks!

Hey socceralien,

if you want to have significant data you should spend 3x the payout per target to be sure before dumping.

However as a first step I would talk to the AM and see if the offer really converts well ( especially for PPV ). There are some offers that don't convert or convert super poorly no matter how much effort you put into it.

Hi bbrock32,

I should strike off an target if i spend 3x the payout per target. (But if i am using landing page, what should be the average CTR for LI and 50onR that i should be achieving before i can decide that it is an target issue and not my landing page issue?)

What about when i should strike off an offer?
- After striking off how many targets?

Thanks.

A CTR of 2.6% isn't intrinsically bad but it does suggest your lander isn't very engaging -- or your targets are simply not interested.

Given your traffic costs, you really need to focus on getting more people to the offer by increasing landing page CTR.

I have never been a fan of PPV for gaming since I think PPV is very low quality traffic that just annoys gamers like me (people who play 3D shooters are likely more net savvy that your average Candy Crush player).

But in any case, you should ask your AM if anyone is running it on PPV, and you should probably drop it if you've sent 100's clicks to the offer with no conversions.

Some games, on certain traffic, just won't convert well.

Always split test offers, running just one offer can lead to too many variables such as it being a bad offer or the link being down etc.

Rotate more offers then compare stats

As a person who heads a department of POP traffic, I can tell you for sure that it depends on which Geo you are targeting as well.
These days I see mainly a success in Asian countries. Moreover the language they use is local.

Cheers
