Anyone in Perth?
Hey STMers!
I'll be flying off to Perth next week.
Anyone in Perth would like to meet up?

There are two Perthians I know on this forum, but sadly ones in Vegas and ones in Osaka
Maybe some unknown ones will chime in here, regardless have a great time on the West!

actually, that could work. Telstra pretty much has service all throughout the major highways in the outback. was quite impressed. spent $1k on a satellite phone that I *almost* didn't need
funny though, I used that phone to call adsimilis to sign up with them back when I first heard of this "making money off the internet" thing. they hung up on me. it was either the fact I had no clue wtf I was talking about or because I was calling from a phone with a +8816 country code. probably looked quite suspicious
wasnt too long ago where phone service in Darwin was only available in CBD. step out in the suburbs and nothing!
they've done some serious improvements in the last lil bit

Telstra are bastards like Telecom (*cough* sorry, 'Spark') in NZ though.
Ridiculous near-monopoly on internet infrastructure and pricing.
I saw a report by CloudFlare on their network costs and peering/pricing around the globe.
Telstra won't peer with them and they currently pay 20x as much for bandwidth compared to Europe - http://blog.cloudflare.com/the-relat...ound-the-world
In other words, CloudFlare pays as much per month for Australian bandwidth as they do for Europe.
Same shit in NZ.
Sorry for derailing your thread.
