Tracking Ad Performance Using Facebook Pixel vs. Google Analytics

I know that software programs like CPV Lab and Voluum offer the raw data that G Analytics doesn't. But is there any reason to use goals in G Analytics when you're already using the Facebook pixel to determine what ads are getting conversions?

Nope?

I don't see why you'd want to involve GA in your paid FB campaign tracking, unless it was a large site and/or you wanted insight into user behaviour and all the nifty things GA tries to tell you.

...stuff that likely won't inspire profit increases if you are running a direct response campaign and track metrics well.

There are a few very specific areas where GA is useful for affiliates - notably Javascript-based tracking for rules landers, VSLs, and similar cunning things (more info coming soon on those). But generally other trackers will do a good job unless you want to track those specific things.

What about to record conversions for dayparting on FB?

Does G Analytics record conversions for FB campaigns and display that in their dayparting reports?

GA probably does show dayparting data, I haven't really used it for anything like this though.

This is for a site that gets a lot of organic traffic, yes?

No, I was just interested in a free way to capture that data to use for dayparting on FB without using a paid tracker like Lab or Voluum.

Oh, right.

No free lunches I'm afraid - I wouldn't rely on GA just for something like that.

Does your regular tracking system not offer dayparting info?

I'm pretty sure the STM-modded p202 tracker can give hourly data.

Can the STM-modded p202 tracker be used to track desktop campaigns?

Of course.

Trackers track clicks, they aren't inherently only able to do desktop or mobile traffic.

To a server it's all the same.

I find GA sucks.

I for the event based traffic that Caurmen mentioned we much prefer to use Mixpanel. It's way better in my opinion. You can follow a specific user through a path.

We use the fb and google conversion pixel for most conversion based tracking.
