I'm a New Member reading Zeno's Facebook Guide

I just joined the Forums and wanting to do things the 'right way' figured I would start by reading the Guides Mentioned (eg. Zeno's Guide to FB ads).

Well one of the first things I read was:

"Let’s first recognise that many verticals are not safe entry points for Facebook. The obvious one is dating. Facebook recently made dating whitelist only. For those of you whom are new to FB, it means dating is well outside your viable options."

Anyway, I am blown away because I joined STM to see what I was doing WRONG with my FB ads (yes, I do mainly whitelist/greylist dating (iHookup, etc. offers from Peerfly mainly) and the first thing I read is STAY AWY FROM DATING ON FACEBOOK - LOL!!! Is this why I cannot get a profitable affiliate campaign going because - like a dummy - I picked the WRONG VERTICAL?

Can I get a little more explanation on why Zeno claims the above? Clearly I am NOT successful at it!!!

Are you currently running dating ads?

Are they direct-linked - via a lander - or going through some other path?

Are the ads clearly dating-orientated? If so, not sure how you got them through!

But to be clear, Dating is now whitelist-only on Facebook.

This means that only Zoosk, eHarmony and Match (AFAIK) can run dating ads, and you can only make ads for these products if Facebook has explicitly whitelisted your account for it.

If you try to run dating ads otherwise, you risk an account ban (in fact, you invite it).

I can't recall how casual/fuckbuddy-ish iHookup promotes itself as, but a word of caution - if you are currently running dating ads, your account is standing on thin ice.

The fact that dating is now so restricted may actually make it easier to get profitable running casual offers, but again -- not safe territory if you value your account.

Thanks Zeno!

I am running a FB Ad -> Lander ->iHookup (Peerfly offer) path. I appreciate your advice as I do NOT want account banned. I assumed ihookup was a little grey but not like a totally adult site. I value your opinion and didnt even realizing I was risking an account ban - geez. I will go delete these ads straightaway - they are not profitable ATM anyway!

Thank you!

Edit: I have deleted these ads (should have changed the destination to Match or something instead of deleting them) but my budget is limited and to get impressions I had average CPC of $0.54 so I think I would have needed a bigger budget anyway to test sufficiently.

Oh well back to POF I go...I am DETERMINED to make this work!

Wouldn't fly even if dating was allowed:

Good idea to swap those links out, I would send them to TheChive for example (rather than to a whitelisted dating advertiser!).

Wow! Thanks I have only just started on here and this is the first place I heard of WOT - didn't know what it was until your response above!

I am going to try to finally make a profitable POF campaign....FB is a little too expebnsive in the dating nice for me ATM.
