Facebook $4500 / Success Story...

Hi

I was a member of this forum earlier this year, but took a break to work on an offline-ish business. I started affiliate marketing again, and two weeks ago. I had my first consistently profitable campaign! Quite literally over night I went from earning nothing in affiliate marketing to $25, $250, $900, $1100. My first $250 profit day came in the same week I had my first $1000 profit day!!

$10,211.60 Sales AND $4,648.63 Profit in 1 week. Dang... I finally experience the rapid escalation of a profitable campaign. I went as hard as I could with the resources I had (not much).

Suffice to say I was stoked, but since then I have had some banner blindness develop in my demographic, and I have been struggling to make it work in a new one. That is to say, I have been making less and less money and am at a negative ROI now.

My new demographic is around 1 million and the offer is converting, just not positive ROI yet. I was actually profitable in this demographic a couple of weeks ago, with a high CTR ad, and so I wonder if I burnt it out or if that is even possible so quickly with my spend and the demographic size???

Anyway, hoping to lean on some of the veteran's experience to see if I should give this campaign up and move onto something else or keep persisting with it.

Here are today's stats

LP1

Cost $263 Revenue $242.09 ROI -7.95%

LPCVR 54.99%

LP2

Cost $221.46 Revenue $$161.02 ROI -27.29%

LPCVR 71.47%

P/L - $81.35

Looking at the data, I think I am going to try and improve LP1 and also test a new ad to try and lower my CPC.

I also have two other campaigns in various preparation stages that I will share once I have some data.

Also shout to Dr Ngo, I have been reading your blog a lot lately and loving it.

Nice, u cloaking?

08-31-2014 09:45 AM #3 caurmen (Administrator)

Congrats on your success!

From looking at those brief stats, I'd say that LP1 looks very promising. Can you get a bump from your network? That'd be the fastest way to get to positive ROI, albeit in small numbers.

Also, how many networks have you split-tested this offer on?

08-31-2014 09:51 AM #4 waylander (Member)

No cloaking mate. I may be able to get a bump. It's a CPS offer, and is only available on one network. I'll have to approach the vendor...

Awesome stuff buddy!

I'll have to approach the vendor...
Definitely a valid approach, if you can deliver good volume/quality a direct relationship might explode this campaign

Congrats on your first success!

If you want feedback on your campaign you have to give us more details, we don't have anything to work with at the moment!

Thanks for all the kind words.

Today I spent 199.29 for 188.72 revenue -5.30% ROI

LPCVR 58.41%

I also spent another $1.62 on something stupid.

456 Website Clicks $0.43 Per Website Click 43,143 reach 2.42 frequency 465 clicks 0.445% CTR

Things I tested were narrowing the age of the demographic slightly, and a newer lp.

Looking at my analytics, all of my landing pages have actually decreased the conversion rate of the sales page... I am thinking I should try running direct again with this new smaller demo.

In other news my t-shirt design is finished and I will hopefully launch a campaign for that tomorrow.

What will you need exactly? Would love some pro perspective.

Today was a good day.

Ran the new demo, direct with a new ad...

Spend $74.27 Revenue $268.49 ROI 261.51%

Tomorrow will be spent extending this demographic using vaaarious audience insights. The demo is under 200,000 so I think it will be burn out pretty quick otherwise...

I also lost about $100 today, testing three new offers, but ended up about $100 up.

Tomorrow should be interesting!

Great stuff! Thanks for sharing

I'm just getting back on Facebook after getting banned a few years ago! Any tips or resources for what the lander must have on it? I've read their terms - just scared of getting banned again.

You'll probably get banned again, and that's OK, just be ready for it and get another account. I'm not sure about the landers, mine are fairly G-rated, basic stuff, there is probably someone more experienced than me who can comment, eg: zeno.

Run your offers past mywot or mccafee safe search (not sure if it is called that) and make sure they are OK. If you have the money, consider running some extremely clean offers to get your daily ad spend increased. I'm not sure, but I think this is important in establishing a good account history. Good luck!

New demo

Spent $202.98 Revenue $241.90 Profit $38.92 ROI 19.17%

This was on a new demograph, my old lost money. I think it is because I paused the ad. It shouldn't go from 260% roi to negative in a day.

Feeling a bit scattered. I think I need to focus on one demographic and just let the ad run. I only have a few more thousand till next week when I get a payment, so I need to just spend the money where it will generate a return and stop messing about.

I went ahead and ordered a dedicated server after reading through some of the guides again. I was using shared hosting and it was emphasized that this is no bueno, so hopefully that helps too.

I'm running some ads on POF, so I might start posting the stats for that too. I know a lot of people start out on that and are keen to see if it can be profitable, so that might be worth sharing.

Nice man! My first big success was on facebook as well :P

Moving from shared hosting to non-shared is a huge deal - good decision. Hopefully it'll push your profits up even higher!

My first thought would be to get your Website Click Cost down. .43 is pretty high .....

Try starting a new campaign that will start at 12am the following day. So when the new Facebook day cycle starts your campaign will start. It should help to lower your CPC's

Nice man. Thanks for the shout-out.

PM and grab my Skype. I can give you some Facebook pointers.

Yah Carumen it was your post that made me make the jump! Hi Jason, I tried this yesterday in the UK and it worked well, I am going to try it in the US tonight. Thanks!

Today was pretty good.

First Demographic

Spend $40.82 Revenue $292.15 Profit $251.33 ROI 615.70%

Pretty fkn outlandish if you ask me. I am getting 10 cent clicks, but the demographic is tiny.

Second Demographic

Spend $106.56 Revenue $100.90 Loss -$5.66 ROI -5.31%

This demographic is 18 x the size of my other, but not as targeted. My clicks were 0.29. I am thinking of collecting emails and building a list here... I feel like I know this demographic well now and there are a heap of offers I could send. Alternatively, I should just put up three vastly different landers and split test. There could be some gold there. I think I will do that for now and see if I can bump it.

I also spent $67 testing new offers, both which yielded -100% ROI In the future I think I should limit test spending to 20% of my profit from the previous day. Problem is I get excited about testing new angles and just go for it.

Dr Ngo! Thanks! Will Pm now!

Yesterday's Stats
First Demographic

$23.64 spend $158.97 Revenue $135.33 Profit 572.46%ROI

Second Demographic

$279.43 spend $378.20 Revenue $98.77 Profit 35.35% ROI

The battle is not over. Kinda struggling today, but am split testing new landers.

09-07-2014 03:15 PM #21 wealthy (Member)

you are doing very good @ waylander

09-08-2014 12:55 AM #22 waylander (Member)

Thanks mate.

Demographic 1

$21.08 spend $0 Revenue -$21.08 Loss -100% ROI

Demographic 2

$227.59 spend 232.54 Revenue $4.95 Profit 2.17% ROI

Demographic 3 [NEW]

$168.15 Spend 207.24 Revenue $40.21 Profit 24.07% ROI

My profitable demographics were negative and break even today, so I ran a new one and it was slightly profitable. I think it was just a one day thing with those other two as my clicks were nearly as cheap.

For now I am focusing on that third demographic as I am about to run out of cash and want to see if I can get a champion lander to rise from the ashes. If I can crack it on here, it will be great as it is a big demo!

I took a very different approach with one lander and it seems to be doing OK/paying off, but I just need to wait for the data. Will be my last day of running traffic and will have to take a few days off to wait for a payment to come in.

Onward and upward bros.

09-09-2014 12:14 AM #23 waylander (Member)

They say the day is always darkest before the dawn, well with my last bit of money (waiting on payment), I seemed to have cracked my third demographic.

$504.04 Spent $1,528.03 Revenue $1,023.99 Profit 203.16% ROI

This is after about 2 weeks of inconsistent profits and small ROI, so it felt good, but I have to take my foot off the pedal and just wait till the money arrives.

I've come down with a cough and fever as well. I think I was burning the candle at both ends, getting up at 3 am to check campaigns and then sleep again.

Biggest takeaways from this campaign have been:

Bringing my A game and putting my best efforts into landers, copywriting and general campaign management. When I'm lazy, or put forth a mediocre effort, I lose money. When I systematically and consistently attack a campaign I can get it profitable (again), it's not luck.

Staying positive and managing mood. Persistence and self talk is huge.

Cashflow. I didn't/don't have enough cash to make the most of this campaign, but I will do my best and will take some steps to make sure this doesn't happen again (more credit cards, cash reserve, living simple etc...).

Analysis. Looking at my stats and planning every day has been helpful. Even writing out thoughts in this thread has helped clarify things.

Thanks for following along.

Fla fla fla Flaberghasted!

Sweet stats, I've enjoyed your updates. Looking forward to seeing you're future post "consistent at $1,000/day!"

Congrats mate!

That's good news for me to know that there are more affiliatte offers Facebook compliant than games.

Thx!
