What does it really take?
Hi all, I'm relatively new to STM not new to AM. My question might be a bit odd but I can't help but wonder... What does it really take to be a winner.
We're all hard workers, many bright people on STM all can read and follow instructions. What really one should do in order to succeed. Is it our creativity that makes us stand out? when making up angles or ability to create cool banners and landers?
Besides test test test test and test.
Is it thoroughness ? Please share your thoughts...

Instead of answering this question directly, it may be more useful if I turn the question around and ask you.
What do YOU think are required to become successful in this industry?
and
What do YOU think are required to become successful in life?
I think that you will find that there is quite a lot of overlap between the answers to both these questions.

The answer to "what does it really take?" changed for me as I being more involved in the industry.
- I first thought it was just about finding out about some mysterious "secrets" that no one would share. Nope.
- Then I thought it was about having a big enough bank role to be mentally mental ok with losing money as well as being able to test a lot of different ideas. Nope.
- Then I thought it was just about working hard. Nope
It took me a while to figure out that there were so many paths to success in AM. You just need to follow the path that is most relevant to the resources, skills and knowledge you have available.
If I just look at my two partners of STM. Bbrock and Stackman. One is extremely technical, pays attention to details, and uses a structure where he doesn't need to "grind". The other is very creative, great at finding new sources, and uses a "cowboy" approach. They both get things to work in their own weird way.
The only commonality I see between them is that they both take action, and both have positive mindsets.
As you can see by the answers already there is no one black and white way to "make it".

Test.
Measure.
Learn.
Don't give up.
If you do those 4 things you'll almost certainly succeed (in AM or anything else, frankly).

Great replies here, persistence and optimism is the biggest trend in all these types of threads.
If you haven't watched MrGreens BKK speech it covers using your special skillset unique to to your advantage, there is no single way at all.
Its just those gradual steps forward, big campaigns generally don't come over night, but over time as you get more confidence in your launching process that you develop through getting in the trenches and build your cash flow you begin to handle much larger projects.

Its completely true, they're
Chalk and Cheese, yet incredibly successful affiliates on both accounts.
Focus on your strengths, continue to launch, continue to learn, don't make the same mistakes and push on, you will get there!

testing is a necessary process which could contribute to the ability.
