Hello all . . . . I've been going over the "Getting Started" guide and have a total newbie / basic question about setting up the VPS:
Does it matter what domain I use, since I need to either register or transfer something over in the setup?
I assume the domain is only being used as a way to funnel the traffic through the tracking software. Correct? So I can just use anything?
Any clarification here would be much appreciated!

Domains are like character names in an MMO. They can be whatever you want, they just point to some digital endpoint I.e. a character.
Domains are the same - and they just point to an IP address of a server.
Pick whatever, buy it on namecheap, bam done. You swt this domain to use certain nameservers - I would recommend using NSone (tutorial soon!). Then you point the domain to an IP and bobs your uncle.
When registering at a host company and they ask for a domain, just put whatever one you want (that you actually own) and if asked, say you will set up nameservers etc. Yourself.
Yeah I was also wondering about this. Your domain will be seen by people who click through your ad to the landing page from POF right? So wouldn't it be weird if the domain name had no relevance to dating? I'm also a complete newb, renewed my membership yesterday and just getting started
nah, ur tracking domain is seen by the ad network and redirects right away to your lander domain... Your lander domain should have something to do with dating
