i've been switching around hosting providers to find one that has the best solutions, i was settling down with wiredtree but the last two days i ran into some insane problems.
so day1(based on
they admited they had a router server outtage, and thigns would resume to normal which eventually it did.
day2: starting of the new day, i got into the same problems again. this time i message support while doing all the gtmetrix/pingdom checks and everything seems fine, support mentioned nothing is wrong too server looked great. so i went to bed hoping things were ok but unfortunately they werent, campaigns were still fucked, so i decided to moved back to my previous hosting provider => rackspace, which was awesome but sharedcloud hosting which was costlier and i was recommneded by most to use wiredtree. so things became better, and campaign performances improved and i ended the day ok.
day3: so again 2hours into the day, i noticed that there were subpar performnaces from my campaigns again. i know now most of you may think this might be a daily thing but trust me, i've dated things further back before, crosscheck with mastermind mates, etc, to know that things are definitely not right. so i checked the usual things and everything is going OK, but the stats off volum were off. i was just randomly browsing things and then i realised that the domain i was hosting on had some differences compared to my friend's domains on who.is
1. my domain status was : servertransferprohibited.
2. my domain had only 1 name server.
3. my server had no IP address and status is inactive.
crosschecking on another whois site, they couldnt even find the records of my domain!
so i tried to fix that thinking that it was the problem.
then i came to a final most puzzling discovery....
see when i migrated midway through day 2, i actually also started split testing my server vs server, cdn vs no cdn.
the server vs server one was interesting. it ran 8hours on day 2 in which rackspace(the hosting solution i switched to) was giving me 100% roi vs wiredtree which was only 80% ROI it was a 14k sample vs 14k sample.
at the start of day 3, wiredtree out perfrom rackspace over 5hours at +60% vs -7% outperforming 5/5 hours of the day.
im confused, and im now in a very bad situation, talking to registrar support/hosting/cdn support for hrs and i still cannot get any closer to solving my problems. i need some help deseprately! please if anyone can help! thank you!
It's hard to really help here without knowing more about the specifics of your setup...
But, what does confuse me is the part about the who.is with the info there.
What registrar are you using? Did you change anything here? What nameservers do you use?
Is it a new domain ?
Wiredtree managed to "drop" a domain for me, similar to what you saw in whois as a new domain generates some authorization email which was never received.
register domain with namecheap, use namecheaps dns servers, point domain to ip of server where you are hosting, end of story. Host with whoever you want but sometimes even using a cdn for hosting is better it just depends.
@heavyt: wish it was that simple. never faced such problems before.
@hiro: not new at all hmmm
@zeno: thats something that confused me as well!
anyway i suspected that the domain could be fucked already, rehosted everything on a new domain on rackspace. everything is seemingly fine now! rackspace is back to outperforming wiretree!
what a strange episode, might be something i'll never solve!
You should have pingdom said up to test the web page content on a tracker url so your testing all aspects of your server and not just the network latency.
