Hello everyone,
I am new to STM and to AM. I am interested mainly in the weight loss niche, and I have a few questions before I get started on my first campaign. I will appreciate any response from you.
- Which is a good traffic source to test your campaigns - specifically for the diet/weight loss niche?
- I played around with the POF spy tool but didn't see anything useful. Is that a good source for testing anything not related to dating?
- What are your thoughts on site scout for initial testing?
- Is it better to focus on web or mobile?
- Which is better to start with: US traffic, or non US traffic?
- Should I start with CB or with one of the affiliate networks recommended in the getting started guide?
- For this niche is it better to direct link or use a landing page?
Thanks in advance.
OK, the big problem you're going to have with weight loss as an initial niche is that most of the payouts tend to be higher, which means that your testing budget will need to be considerably higher too.
Is that something you're comfortable with? I'd estimate approximately a $10k budget needed to learn, which you should expect to lose most of.
Otherwise, you might want to focus on another niche with more CPA (Cost Per Action - signups etc) as opposed to CPS (Cost per Sale) offers.
Alternatively, if you can find some low-payout high-conversion weight loss offers, then you're golden! Low-payout in this context is approximately $6 or below.
Thanks a lot for your reply.
I cannot afford 10k at the moment. So I will start with something lower as you suggested. 1k over 1 or two months is what i can afford to put up at the moment.
There are many verticals/niches that have a lot of affiliate offers.
Dating, gaming, sweepstakes, mobile gaming and apps, mobile content, unique lead gens, info products and Clickbank offers, retail, daily deals, muscle, skin, diet, business opportunities, credit/insurance, etc.
You will want to focus on a vertical and/or offers where users don't have to buy something, or pull out a CC, for you to get a lead.
For offer info you should be talking to your AM at networks.
Register for several and get in touch and ask for something like a spreadsheet of the top volume/CVR offers network wide, or in a specific category. From that you can get an idea of what would be sensible to test.
Another method to stick to weightloss which might work very well is collecting emails related to the niche and then taking VERY good care of that list with tons of quality content and mail out offers over time. Could be a great way to start a longterm weightloss business. It's not easy though IMO
Yes, indeed. If you're a good writer and can connect to your audience, that's an excellent approach to take. It's slower and arguably harder, but also more sustainable.
