How do marketers use cloaking to their advantage?

Interested in finding out how AM's use cloaking from Google etc. to their advantage.

When a user clicks on their ad are they taken directly to the offer?

How does this work with CPA or is it best used with a product/service?

Thanks.

Most cloakers make use of an extensive database and digital footprinting to differentiate a manual reviewer or a bot from a real visitor. They redirect the bots and reviewers to an unsuspicious looking site and the real visitors to the money site. That could be a lander of some kind or straight to the offer.

Yeah I was wondering whether most cloak straight to an offer or to their own lander.

I guess it depends on the niche/product.

How would an adwords campaign work with CPA or is it better with physical products affiliates like amazon?

Thanks.

Deciding to cloak to an offer or landing page is the same decision whether you're claoking or not. That decision goes back to "what will convert better for this offer, a landing page or direct linking". Once thats figured out (based on testing + asking your AM), then you can setup cloaking.

You may jumping ahead of yourself a bit.

Cloaking is a technique typically used to run landers/offers that are non-compliant, i.e. that the traffic source would explicitly not allow if you were to show them it directly.

Cloaking is something you may gravitate to when you have experience and/or proven offers that you want to run somewhere that they wouldn't typically fly.

If you are new to AM you should be focusing on how to run campaigns, not how to successfully run non-compliant campaigns without getting caught as quickly.
