I really want to learn more about paid advertising, preferably on the facebook level.
I don't know that I want to get into advertising these spammy type of sites (weird dating sites, adult sites, etc) I know you're not allowed to do those types of things on facebook anyways, but I just want to start in an industry where I actually have a little bit of knowledge in.
Would it be advisable to try and start paid facebook advertising with some web hosts like http://www.siteground.com/affiliate_program.htm ? I've hosted with them before and I'd love to drive sales through to their site. However I know that affiliate links for web hosting is so saturated. On the same token, I've been reading a lot that the real way to learn is to just pick something and put money into a campaign and see what works and what doesn't.
If web hosting isn't the right area to start with, can you recommend something else?

I wouldn't touch anything like that...
The site's affiliate program looks nice but converting FB users on something like that won't be straightforward, especially as a newbie.
Who on Facebook is looking for web hosting? If someone wants that they are probably looking on search.
Anyway, there are tonnes of verticals and types of offers that can be run on FB through affiliate networks that are not dating-related.
Just read the list in my FB guide and have a ponder.
