I've read the posts about strings and how you can use this knowledge to gain a competitive edge in terms of bidding strategy against your competitors. I've only seen examples with urls though.
Does the same apply to keywords?
For instance if i bid on "freebies" will terms like "how to get freebies" be popped by my campaign as well.
Is there a comprehensive resource on every facet of the bidding algorithm that ppv networks use? (i know they all differ though)
Yes you are right.
If you bid on "freebies" terms like "how to get freebies" will trigger your ad.
Basically it's a string search algorithm. If the string you bid is found in the url the user is viewing , the ad will pop.
There are no official docs on this. This info comes all from experience / testing.
related question.
if we are bidding credit+report (which is a space character), would it pop if credit-report was in the url?
if not, should we ALWAYS bid on credit*report (wildcard character)?
thanks
bid all combinations:
credit*report
credit+report
credit-report
credit_report
credit report
Leadimpacts algo sometimes works in strange ways and one combo can get way more traffic then the other.
But there doesnt seem to be a rule to it, or atleast I havent found it.
perfect. great insights. thank you!
If I'm bidding on just a portion of a URL e.g; SUBDOMAIN.X , will my ad be triggered if the user searches for SUBDOMAIN.XXX.com ?
Do I get priority for my ad to be served (and therefore, more traffic) over a competitor who is bidding on the exact URL that matches the query i.e; SUBDOMAIN.XXX.com ?
yes it will if you are the top bidder overall.
as far as I know there are no priorities
