My First Paid Traffic Campaign Ever (18)

My First Paid Traffic Campaign Ever

So I finally decided I wanted to go all in with paid traffic. I'm still getting a good income from SEO and will use part of that to fund my learning process.

I'm following: The Mobile Cookbook: The Appetiser by caurmen.

I was suggested 5 offer from the Neverblue affiliate manager.

I already started a campaign with a Russian offer but I found it not ideal due to the language. I'm going to try a offer in my own language this time.

I found an offer which can be used in most countries with a $0.20 payout. I'll be testing it in the Netherlands and/or Belgium. I'm now going to set it up. I'll keep you posted.

I think that starting with a low payout offer is a good move

Cool, looking forward to hearing how you get on!

A update and some questions. Not enough data yet to come back and analyse it here.

I have a Voluum account. I wanted to follow the Mobile Cookbook to the letter and thats why I decided not to use Voluum. Should I use it anyway?

I'm used to doing SEO and what makes the conversions in SEO are the keywords. In a sense that makes it very simple. You almost know from the start what will convert and what doesn't.

It seems like with mobile marketing the biggest job is figuring out what will convert (or you angle), am I correct? Finding the right angle is almost like keyword research, only more difficult.

Here are the banners I have created. It's my first try so they probably suck

As per this case study,

any banner could be good, until proved otherwise

So here is the data I got from decisive already

The first one doesn't look good but since I have spend about 0.40 on each creative and the payout is 0.20 I should wait a bit more and get more data. Correct?

The offer I'm testing out is APUS Launcher btw.

Are those flashy banners allowed in decisive? Are those sfw files?

According to the tutorial I need to start blacklisting sites or apps that don't convert. Please check the screenshot. If I am not mistaken I need to blacklist the first 2 websites. Since the payout is 0.20 and they have spend more then 3 times that correct?

You should definitely blacklist the first 2, especially the first - the maths here is pretty clear.

I take it you have not had any conversions?

I would cull placements aggressively to provide an array of traffic to the offer, but keep a close eye on overall conversion rate of the offer.

on the part on language, i wanted to focus on my own language too but then i realized that causes many limitations. we are here to go out of our comfort zone right? and that would mean trying many many new things and one of them is a different language.

my first set of banners looked pretty close to yours =D maybe you can get some ideas from checking out the sites decisive places its ads on?

with a lower payout like 0.20... how much should the budget be per campaign? not 15 bucks right? maybe closer to 8? but would that be too little to collect sufficient data?

You're doing everything right so far!

Budget - there's nothing wrong with sticking to the $15 budget, but on a very low payout offer you can afford to knock it down to $10. Keep a VERY close eye on your placements then, though, and reduce daily budgets too.

So the dutch traffic didn't get any conversions at all. I don't have a good feeling about this app. I created some banners with some effects in it and will target the UK this time. If that doesn't work I just got accepted at F5 and they seem to have a lot more offers to choose from. I think I will try one of they offers then with a slightly higher payout.

Nice bro, i too just started mobile. I have a friend that tells me he failed 100 times and when he hit his first one, its the best dam feeling in the world. Can't wait for that to happen.

Quick question

If I didn't select direct linking, i will not expect any conversions in my Decisive report right?
In fact, conversions will be converted in my LP. How do you cut banners then?

No, you can pass conversion data from your network, to Voluum, and then to Decisive regardless of whether you were direct-linking, using a landing page, or both.

You really, really need to get on top of tracking right now.

If you had it sorted you wouldn't need to ask this as the conversions would show up in Decisive and thus there would be no confusion.

Ok. noted. Solving it now
