Postback tracking, Voluum and P202 for Hitpath

Hi There,

I'm still new to this forum, but I have been in aff marketing for some time. I have one question to ask on the postback tracking.

FYI, I started by using postback tracking for prosper202 with W4. But till now I'm unable to get the postback to work and only resort to image pixel. Image pixel tends to miss some of the conversion though.

Prosper 202

Eg: my postback URL is http://mydomain.com/tracking202/stat...amount=&subid=

I check from this forum, W4 is using hitpath and i understand that hitpath subid is xxc1xx,

So my link will be http://mydomain.com/tracking202/stat...amount=&subid= xxc1xx

Am I right? But this does not fire when I had the conversion.

I have tried up Voluum, and Voluum is giving me this postback URL

http://www.mydomain.com/postback?cid={REPLACE}&payout={OPTIONAL}

I replace the cid with xxc1xx, and it become like this http://www.mydomain.com/postback?cid=xxc1xx&payout=1.8

But the problem is both the prosper 202 and Voluum did not register the conversion. I will appreciate it if anyone can help me on this. I understand that some of them are using hitpath as well.

Thanks and have a nice day.

Do you have the subid passed into c1 on your affiliate link?

something like &c1=[[subid]]

Dear Mr Baffoe,

Normally when i got the link from W4, I just copy and paste it into the P202 campaign, or Voluum offer. I do not put anything for the C1, C2 or C3.

Thanks

By the way, Prosper 202 rocks man. It is free and has helped me tremendously in managing my campaign. I'm using the latest version.

There is your issue - postback URLs are a way of servers communicating information between each other.

Your goal is for W4 to tell prosper202 or Voluum that a specific click converted.

How is it supposed to do this if you don't have prosper202 initially tell W4 something about the click?

It would be like monitoring a marathon of 1000 runners, but no one is wearing ID tags, and you expect the time keepers at the end to give you a list of names/times of the finishers.

So, take your W4 link and add [[subid]] to it to pass on the number ID for each click. If your affiliate link has ...&c1=something&c2=something_else and so on in it, put ...&c2=[[subid]] (It is good practice to not use the first one for unique click IDs).

In W4, in your stats, if you look at C2 you should see numbers coming through that identify each click.

Now, in your postback URL, pass these values back using xxc2xx -- or whichever one you are using to keep track of these number [[subid]] values.

Dear Zeno,

Thanks for the guide. I will give it a try. Ya it make sense. But for hitpath, if I put the [[subid]] on C2, not C1.

So the end of postback url should be xxc1xx or xxc2xx?

Thanks again. I have manually input the subid number (obtained from W4 report) into the postback url and paste on the browser. It finally register a conversion.

if you are passing [[subid]] as C2, then you would need xxc2xx in the postback URL.
