Need help, I'm a little confused

For a few weeks that now I have been learning html and getting some landing pages made, modeling them after some I saw here on the forums, for the skin care vertical. I decided to promote a wrinkle reducing product on POF. I used the spy tool to discover banners and landers on POF, but I found only a couple. So, I took a trial subscription to BoxofAds to look for some and found a few more. Now I am scratching my head, wondering what's going on as I thought there would be a lot more creatives for this niche. At this point, I am not sure if there is enough demand for this product.

Can someone please help me to decide if I should pursue this product? What am I missing?

If you are just starting out I would suggest staying out of the skin care niche.

Payouts are high so it means you need big budgets just to test. Also it's a very competitive niche.

Regardless of the traffic source ( POF / PPV / Mobile ) , I would start with a low to medium paying offer.

This way you can gather some data without spending a lot and learn faster.

Other than dating, what other niches would you recommend? Additionally, I was attracted to this offer because I would be paid a commission when individuals order a free sample of the product. Their only cost would be $3 for shipping. I would be paid an additional commission if individuals actually purchase the product. I thought it would be easier to earn a commission if individuals ordered a free sample vs having to make a purchase.

Almost every vertical/niche has a mix of low and high payout offers...

I was leaning towards POF because it was recommended by a lot experienced marketers as a good traffic source for newbies to get started. So, I would like some recommendations for POF as well as in general that are not very competitive.

Hi I am just starting out in affiliate marketing also and I'm wondering if Facebook campaigns are a good place to start?

Facebook is a great place for a newbie in terms of barrier to entry, volume available and how easily you can control spend.

However I dare say it is up there as one of the most complex traffic sources on the planet.

If you aren't running completely compliant campaigns you can get burned and its very easy for newbie affiliates to make cardinal mistakes.

PoF is more forgiving but more limited for traffic and verticals/offers you can make work since the audience is very focused on dating.

For PoF the bread and butter is dating. However people are people so anything that benefits them in health, wealth or entertainment can be marketed... whether or not you will be successful you will only find with testing.

OK, I have a few niche dating offers I will get started promoting on POF for now. After I have a couple of profitable campaigns I will diversify with other offers and traffic sources. I have noticed that most of the campaigns on POF are not using landers. I think I will create a couple of landers and split test them against direct linking. Hoping to post a Follow Along in a couple of days.

Really?

I'd say using landers on PoF is almost unavoidable.

I can't recall any follow along where the user has had better results with DL compared to through a lander.
