Can your placement detect what you are running?

In mobile traffic, there are SITES and APPS in which your banner can be placed. Is a SITE or APP placement able to detect what kind of offer it is about? Can they detect whether it is a UTILITY APP, ANTIVIRUS APP, PIN SUBMIT or SUBSCRIPTION. Can they detect that through your banner/landing page or something else?

Thanks

Ad networks will place your campaign in a category. On APP placements its a really big deal. You can't have dating/gambling/adult ads in a kids app ec.

Apps can opt out of certain categories - like PIN Submits, or in most cases they opt out of categories that could compete with them

Ok, but aside from the more...controversial categories...can they tell? If you are put in a "Utilities" category, can they see if it's an anti-virus vs browser?

Yes, they can see the ad running on their own app or site, or they can get reports from their users.

Whether they will care will depend on the plaacement. But yes, if you're trying to sneak something a placement doesn't like through, they can spot it just by looking at their own site when it's running!
