Payout vs popularity

I'm just curious about this and am hoping an affiliate manager (or someone else with the inside view) can chime in.

Do most affiliates flock to higher payout offers for the higher perceived upside potential? Or lower payout offers, generally understanding that lower payout requires lower testing budgets?

EDIT: Sorry for the weird webinar tag, hopefully someone can remove it

They flock to hype and what they see running typically. Bunch of guys say something's doing well others will jump on board.

Yeah payout is way down the list of priorities for affiliates. Word of mouth & what shows up on spy tools/traffic sources are the biggest factors.

This may be an interesting read on this topic: http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...ghlight=payout, although I suspect you already know most of it.

Personally, all things being equal, I'm usually more interested in a lower-payout offer. However, it's way down my list of priorities, as MrGreen says.

They flock to the offers that CONVERT!

Payout doesn't matter if the offer can't convert.

With that said a good note is low payout offers are better when starting off for cheaper testing... but that's the only benefit of them.
