Hi all,
I'm new to the forum and keen to get involved with affiliate marketing, mobile in particular. I've been involved in affiliate marketing for a while with my "regular" job but doing it for your self with all the set up with tracking etc is bamboozling me (a great teletex game for those of a certain age, I digress...).
I was wondering if there are any STM'ers that want to meet up in a co-working space (eg Google Campus) and work on starting some campaigns. Some times I want to bang my head against a wall when setting up/live campaigns.
If there are any newbie STM'ers that want to catch up let me know. Any seasoned pros are also welcome!
Cheers
Nik
I think there is going to be a mini STM London meet up very soon. @caurmen I remember you mentioning something
?
I'd do my best to get up to London if a STM meetup happens, would be great to meet people.
Cool, would be good to catch up with some peeps.
Any good upcoming conferences in London it can be done around?
The only one I know of is ad tech. I don't think its either good or upcoming (October). So not sure. Maybe there are some I don't know of??
I.m in for a London meetup.
nt2000 - happy to catch up for your gig too, but can only do Eve/Weekend.
There actually are a couple STM folks who are already in London this summer who are serving as faculty for our internship program http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread.php?16804 like @caurmen and @zeno
I'll speak with them and see if they can get something organised, either at Google London campus or elsewhere.
Flying back "home" to the UK from Thailand for a month next week. If anybody is about in London 7th - 10th August it would be cool to meet.
I'm in London, would be up for a meetup
I'll have more news on this in a day or so - I've just got to see when we can arrange this so the maximum number of people are in town.
I just moved to England from the US so im definitely going to come to this meetup!
Count me in, definitely up for a London meetup.
I would love to attend as well
I've also just moved to London from the US, happy to get involved with a meetup as well
Sounds great guys. I'll wait for @caurmen to arrange something. Keen to catch up and have a geek fest about AM and also some other normal stuff too
Me and a couple of affs usually go to ad tech London, not that the event itself is any good. It's usually in September though
OK, it looks like the London meetup will be on
30th July
In other words, just over a week.
Sorry about the short notice!
Venue TBC - I've got a couple of ideas to chase up, but does anyone have any other suggestions?
What sort of place you looking for? pub/bar or somewhere to sit and work?
Id be keen for this seeing as how I am not in any position to be flying out to Vegas or anywhere like that...
damn gonna miss it then =/
@nt2000 - it'll be in the evening so somewhere good to socialise, not too loud, but some refreshments would be good.
I'm investigating holding it at Google's London campus, but other ideas welcome too!
NOTE for expectation management: when we say "mini-meetup" here, the emphasis is definitely on the "mini" part. We're not talking about something like the STM Bangkok meetup - just saying "hey, there's a bunch of affs in London, let's all meet up somewhere, have a few beers and talk!"
cool im in as well, i live in canary wharf (around the corner ).. 30th for sure?
30th is pretty locked in I think, yep.
cool, I'm in.
@caurmen Campus London is from 9am - 5:50pm. The downstairs is a cafe with loads of benches so people can use the super fast wifi and work. It's a pretty good free space for any workers that need a break from working at home. Register https://www.campuslondon.com
There are loads of pubs in the area so we could meet up at Campus then move on. There is a pub round the corner from Campus :
The Windmill
27 Tabernacle St
London EC2A 4DE
Could be a good starting point maybe. I haven't had a drink there but I often see people spilling outside. It's in the middle of Moorgate and Old Street and not far from Liverpool Street station.
Just suggestions.
I'm in for the 30th - am cancelling a trading floor evening at Sandown races - you guys are much more important.
Can only make an evening gig.
Pics coming - I only remembered to shoot them at the end of the night, so I need to Photoshop them into visibility a bit first
OK, apologies for the terrible quality but here are a few of the pics (the actually-even-slightly-visible ones) that I took at the end of the London mini-meetup. Enjoy!

I look like I'm about to burst into laughter.
I'm so bad at photos.
That's me looking like Michael From Underworld haha , it was great meeting everyone !
@MrGreen - I have a decent camera ( Canon EOS 600D )... which I forgot to bring. Derp.
However, recommendations for an Android phone with a better camera would be much appreciated! I'm getting a bit tired of the Nexus 4's somewhat dodgy camera quality!
(I know that iPhones have fantastic cameras, but I'd prefer to stay Android. I may crack at some point, though, particularly with their camera now being recommended as better than any budget point-and-shoot camera on the market.)
Good to see some pics!
Can't wait for the MEGA STM Gathering in March
hi ya'll!
I'm thinking of going to the Performance Marketing Insight Conference 28th/29th October.
http://www.performancemarketinginsights.com/14/london/
Is anyone else there? would be cool if we could meet up!
Any one going to AdTech next month on the 21st/22nd?
^^ huum
I dropped by AdTech NYC when I briefly visited (a week after Sandy, and walked out of the train stations as winter storm Athena hit, FML).
It didn't really appeal to the performance marketer.
And the Starbucks stall employee thought I said "LARGE coffee", when I actually said "LAAAAATE".
I drank it anyway. Would not recommend.
I'll be seeing all you folk in March
Seems like there will be a pretty big group before then
