Prosper Local texting on XAMPP (Windows)
Has anyone ever run Prosper locally on XAMPP (internal testing stuff)? Having trouble installing Prosper in this way, right now. Keep getting an 'Unexpected end of file' error. Strange, the same code uploaded to a 'net server works just fine.
Hmmm ....

Did you set it up as a domain in your hosts file?
I think prosper looks for a domain name to work properly.

I would test it on a subdomain at your hosting space instead, that's easier (at least I found it easier than doing it local)

Thanks for chipping in guys. Alas, the hosts file solution didn't help.
Testing it on the 'net can be awkward, as I'm developing some extensions for Prosper and the load testing can come acoress to the ISP as either a DDOS or hack attempt. Guess I'll have to explain the situation up front and tell them to prepare for a tsunami.
dario: but did you ever get it working locally?

yes, but only the plain vanilla p202, not the custom STM version, that needs a lot more of bells and whistles to load properly

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
Ooh, that's irritating, as I'm only using the 'plain vanilla' 1.8.4 Prosper out of the box, so to speak. Not got onto the STM version yet in my mad scientist experimental phase.
Guess I'll have to try on another machine to see it I have the same result. Pffft.

Do you get errors after a successful installation, or does not install at all?

Try turning on short tags for php. I have a dev local setup on MAMP that works just fine.
BTW: What's up with Original P202 being called Plain Vanilla P202

Short tags was the answer. Many thanks Nana. But although it has now installed, I'm getting an error
Fatal error: Call to undefined function money_format() in C:\xampp\htdocs\202-config\functions-tracking202.php on line 167
in the overview screen. Any ideas please?
There's nothing wrong with plain vanilla bro. My favorite flavor, and, just like Prosper; it's smoother than Beyonce's cashmere shorts.

Just found out that strfmon is not avallable on Windows machines, so the function money_format() doesn't work.
Another reason I hate microsoft.

FWIW, we've been doing some extremely intense load testing on DigitalOcean servers without them getting at all upset. I think they're used to devs load-testing between their own servers.

Lol I just think Butter Pecan P202 has a better ring to it.

Let's face it, 'Prosper202 - Sprinkled with nuts' would be pretty accurate.
