Targeting Traffic For Time of Day

Trying to get an idea (with adult traffic) if you guys target certain times of day or do you keep pushing traffic 24/7? I guess this question would apply to specifically to self serve networks. Advantages and disadvantages to both?

As a rule of thumb I keep things running 24/7.

I wouldn't consider day-parting until you have a couple of weeks data at the least. Remember that days respond just as differently as hours some times and there are only two Mondays in 2 weeks. More weeks, more data, better decisions.

As for the advantages - well that's pretty obvious. Lower ad spends, more profit.

Disadvantages tie in with what I said earlier. If you day-part without the data to back it up but you're potentially just blowing a hole in your campaigns.

Remember though across all this you should be looking at your bottom line rather than campaign ROI. A 100% ROI on a $100 campaign is $100 profit. A 30% ROI on a $1000 campaign is $300 profit.

Effective Dayparting, with statistical relevance, requires alot of data points. You have 24 variables when you include each hour of the day, so you will need or should have at least 24 x 10 = 240 conversions before you can make any reliable assumptions on time of day data.
