Do Ads In The Same Campaign Run Against Each Other? (8)

Do Ads In The Same Campaign Run Against Each Other?

Let's say I'm running a CPC camp where I have 5 ad sets and each ad set has 3 dupes of an ad. So in total, I have 5 sets and 5 ads (15 total ads), with 1 original ad in each set.

If I set these to all run at the same time, are all 15 ads running against each other?

What is the best way to run a campaign like this?

The ones in the same ad sets are competing head to head for 'spend'.

As far as competing on FB, they will be if they have the same targeting.

From what I understand, depending on your budgets and the demo size it can be fairly negligible.

If your budget is $500 for each ad set and your demo size is 50k then it's much likely to become an issue.

But if you're bidding 200 each on a 2mm demo it's probably negligible - from what I've seen anyway.

Dude, just run it and find out!!!!!!!!

You'll never be perfect! You're going to fail! So go out and fail!

Thats where the success is. Lots of people ask questions on this forum, when they could be easily answered with $5 of adspend.

I don't see how spending money will tell me if my ads are running against each other.

To be clear:

On the news feed ads are capped at the brand/page level - so if you are running multiple ads for a page, advertising to the same demo, they will not appear together on the news feed. Raising bid prices yourself is unlikely - I have been told by my rep at social.com that over a few billion impressions they found no evidence of a single advertiser influencing ad pricing alone.

As for the RHS, it's not really an issue now with the 2 ad column. The chances of displaying two ads together will be unlikely, but I believe possible for external domain ads.

If I want to test different ads, I make sure they have their own separate campaign and dupe the same ads 2-3 times per campaign.

Do you duplicate the ad set 2-3 times in the campaign? Or do you create 1 ad set and then 2-3 duplicate ads within it?
