Input needed ... promoting e-cigarettes

As i mentioned in my intro i have been involved in affiliate marketing since about 1 year promoting e-cigarettes.

I started because one of my friends told me that it was producing him some nice income and said i should try it.

Tried 2-3 companies in the beginning but after 1 month decided to only promote the one company giving me best results.
I have to admit at that time sticking to just one company was also because of poor finances

Way of promoting: buying USA traffic (USA gives best results) and using interstitial advertising (the website will before someone tries to visit a website)

I will put some pros and contras here as i am kinda stuck

PROS

- huge market potential, lot's of smokers and smoking real cigs being banned in public places, bars, restaurants etc, this gives a (healthier?) alternative

- growing market as ecigs are "cleaner", no tar, no ashes, no odor etc

- great commission structure (30% at highest level PLUS 20% of what your referrals earn)

- lifetime cookies (don't know if this is really a pro. Will refer to that in cons as well). Once someone buys from your link, he will remain "your" customer forever

CONS

- lifetime cookies (i cannot "steal" customers from other affiliates )
- commission structure ( the 20% of your referrals really encourages people to refer new affiliates to the system; more affiliates means the pieces of the pie are getting a bit smaller to share amongst everyone)

Now as i said the only way i promoted this was through interstitial advertising (GEO targeted, category "SMOKING - CIGARETTES") BUT all my "friends" are using the same resources, traffic websites as i do, which means i guess, that these resources are being sucked dry.

My question to you guys is:

1) any hints and tips on "other" ways to promote this specific product (banners, landing pages?)
2) apart from other ways to promote, any hints tips on resources you might use for what you recommended in 1) (buy traffic where, what kind of traffic)
2) This specific brand also has a special subdivision for female smokers (which i never specifically promoted). I assume there are also women reading here so do you advise to promote this separately as well?
3) only advertised USA thusfar. They have a separate site for EURO countries as well. I believe there's a big market in the EURO zone as well.

These are my questions.
Some advice would be very helpful as i want to get ahead also of my "friends" that are promoting the same product(s) AND of course i also want to learn more on how to become more successful in the AM area, not only for this type of product but also other products in the future)

Looking forward to your input,

What's the payout on the offer? In other words, how much do you get paid when someone signs up?

As far as female smokers, yes, definitely try targeting them too.

You could try POF (Plenty Of Fish) for this, as they have a specific targeting option for smokers. Not huge volume and quite competitive, though.

Definitely, DEFINITELY try EU countries, particularly non-English-speaking ones. If your competition hasn't moved there already you could well hit a goldmine.

Hi Caurmen,

Thanks for the reply but i think i have to clarify something.

This is not about an offer for one product but about ALL products this company sells on their website.

It's not a per signup but a "per sale".

30% on all purchases of customers you refer for lifetime (ranges from $1.00 - $50, i think the "average for my sales is $18.00 per sale and customers come back, they stay with you as long as they keep purchasing from the website).

With being an affliate for a website like this it is like building a monthly income all from the same website. More customers referred means more sales and monthly income going up.

Hope this clarifies things a bit.

Thanks already for looking into it.

Ah, right, so you're doing a recurring revshare? Nice.
