Is Mobile Good for List Building?

I sell my own products in the biz op niche and am thinking about getting into mobile. I know it's probably a bad platform for trying to make a straight sale. But what about list building through a mobile friendly opt in page?

Just wanted to run the thought by you guys, since I don't really surf the web on my phone and I'm not sure how good of a platform mobile is for list building.

Mobile can be used for list building. BUT, bear in mind that phone keyboards can often be awkward to use, making input more prone to error. That's why most merchants use PIN submits. Mobile needs to be super simple and super short. Think about the medium for a moment. It's MOBILE, so the user could be in fluctuating lighting conditions, rocking about on a bus ie not ideal conditions.

I laugh when I see a lot of mobile landers using poor contrast, 'fancy' fonts and requiring the user to scroll or enter unecessary data. Then they wonder why their sign-up rates are so poor.

Always think from the user's perspective, NOT the marketer's.

Mobile may not be the best route for list building. There are better alternatives for that. If you are in the Biz Opp or MMO niche, consider Facebook for list building. Lot of people dont think about Facebook in terms of list building, but it can be a great resource due to their sheer volume and targeting capabilities. You can build a nice optin form on your Fan page, and drive relatively cheap traffic within Facebook to that opt in page to build a nice size email list. Make sure you are using some type of lead magnet ( free giveaway, free report, whitepaper exc ) to increase your opt in rate.

Another good option for list building is buying co-reg opt-in's
