Hello I am new to this and decided to take a plunge in the appetizer course.
Super green to all this so I had some trouble had to ask around at the newbie forum. Thanks for all the help so far.
I decided to stick with a simple set up as I don't want to over complicate myself.
Traffic Source: Decisive
Offer: Furthermobi (Battle Of Utopia)
Tracker:
Budget for project: $750 /month
So far I have set up decisive linking with my offer.
The offer I find was pretty straight forward, it is only catered to iphone only & I check the latest version of the app and set the necessary ios.
As for the banner designs, I just started out with their banner design they gave.
I ran the campaign for 1/2 day. So far these are my results.

I have a few problems.
1) How do I test if my affiliate link is working?
2) I am having trouble understanding the split up of 4 campaigns.
Ranging from
carrier - app
carrier - site
wifi - app
wifi - siite
Do you guys test various websites as well like high performance one? or do you separate via city as well? Example you find a certain cities that convert well but others that don't.
Like for mine, under ios version I listed down every version from 6.0 to 7.1.1 because it only supported 6 and above. Is this correct?
So let say I targeting their site network, my ads would appear on every site that they have on. Do I have to make multiple campaigns for different sites to see which one is the lousy one and than stop the campaign?
3) Banner design
1 campaign, I upload all my banner designs? So the banner would auto swap around and test various banners? Also can I mix like 320x50 banners with pop-up banners? What banners ads does decisive cover?
4) I am uncertain how you integrate
Thanks so much for all the guidance! I really appreciate it. I realize that the power of doing really helps, if you don't do anything I would never have so many questions to ask!
Hello I was learning on how to use
Now change the link so that it looks like:
http://f5mtrack.com/?a=xxxxx&c=xxxxx&s1={campaign.id}&s2={clickid}&s3= {var10}&s4=3g{var1}&s5=
s4 = Wifi Or 3g With {var1}
Only this one has to change.
Why is there a 3g inside the code? Does it mean that it would only track 3g things if you insert the 3g inside?
You'll be able to see bids on individual sites within your 4 campaigns, and you can subsequently "blacklist" terrible ones - indeed, that's a very important part of the process.
You can check the banner sizes that Decisive offers for each country by using the "Planner" at the top left of the main Decisive screen. You can indeed mix various banner sizes in a single campaign.
Hope that helps!
1) You load it in your browser while connected through an appropriate VPN, and ideally an iOS/Android device depending on the offer.
2) You would not split by city unless you had very convincing data saying certain ones are a lot better. Yes you are correct to put all those versions in there - in the future hopefully Decisive will add a minimum version function to make this easier. You do not need to make multiple campaigns for different placements - you would have to make thousands... You however can split off and make a new campaign that only includes specific, high performing placements. This comes after you get data from your original campaign.
3) Usually you would put different banners for the same angle in the same campaign. I wouldn't mix sizes if I was you. Look at Decisive's planner - this will tell you what banner resolutions they have and what volumes. It's up to you to do due diligence here.
4)
5) That seems to be based on the guide by pim_amsterdam. The 3g would go there only for a campaign in
Hello Zeno
1) so basically I just use the link and access it using my phone? If I get redirected to the download page it is working?
2) thanks for the advice on the campaign. I would work on a general target than focus.
3) okay thanks I would work on other banners, as well of different dimensions.
And if number 1 is correct, my affiliate link given was spoiled! Meaning I have been directing people to an empty page.
1) Assuming that you're connected to a proxy or VPN that makes it appear that you're loading from the relevant country, yep! If you're not using a proxy (and the right sort of phone) then you're more likely to see errors.
Hello guys,
I am back with an update on my campaign. I would like honest feedback on it. Sorry if it looks newbie it is my real first attempt & I am freaking fresh to AM so be brutal I am willing to learn.
First off I had to switch offers from a Game install to Wechat Offer due to some issues with my affiliate link.
Offer: Wechat (italy - Andriod Only)
Traffic source: Decisive
Tracker:

Ran 4 campaigns (all android)
Italy - WeChat - 3G - App
Italy - WeChat - 3G - Site
Italy - WeChat - WIFI - App
Italy - WeChat - WIFI - Site
Listed is my campaign overall

Offers

Primarily, I was looking to familiarise myself with the system. These offers were given by my offer site, I felt it look quite good so decided to use it. Apparently it isn't.
Listed below are a few questions that I came across. If any kind soul out there would be kind to reply me and guide me I would appreciate it!
I have a few questions regarding
1) Why does my direct linking shows as a visit, how do I make it into a click?
2) How do I set the CPC price as I know decisive doesn't have a cost macro function. How do I know what is an ideal price to add?
3) Could you give me a feedback? Base on my observation. Do let me know if you need more data, I am still uncertain on how to view or sort the data out. If anyone could guide me would be great.
4) I am uncertain on the angles of this offer. I see it as a quite straight forward chat system, most angles I can think of is like "save cost on your sms fees" something along saving money thus using the chat. I mean putting a girl there does make it look more enticing to click as well, thus I stick with it.
5) How do I determine if the offer isn't a good offer or if my banner design is not good?
6) After a certain time period, if the whole entire italy start to use wechat, it is not a suitable market for me to do such offers right?
7) What should I change with my campaign? Should I focus on re-angling or just change the entire offer. Also does traffic source come into play? Should I focus on other traffic source?
7) Lastly if you got any feedback or comment please do feel free to comment here!
What I have learnt
- I learnt how to master voluum better. I don't know about you guys but all the links stuff was a bit hard for me to understand but I preserved and keep trying until one day I finally understood it!
- Gotten a better picture of the whole entire system. I kept on having questions in my head that would love to know the answers. Little by little I become more aware of things.
- I finally understand the meaning of doing it, I learnt so much more executing a campaign than reading stuff on the forum. It is like you force yourself to do things naturally which is good.
Looking forward to your feedback guys! Peace!
1) This doesn't matter -
2) You don't. This is why you should use Decisive's conversion tracking and can compare cost at the traffic source vs revenue in the tracker. You can update CPC in
3) How much have you spent on each campaign and what's the offer payout?
I would suggest not using such stock creatives. Display a benefit. Use shock tactics. Do something interesting.
I would also ditch some banner sizes - the 320x48? is redundant. I would stick to 320x50 or maybe that and 300x250. I would split them into their own campaigns if I was you... so that the data you are looking at is for one banner size, reducing the risk of multiple banners giving aggregate stats for a single placement.
Have you done a test conversion?
4) I'm not really sure what your angle is? What does the banner say?
5) Talk to your AM. If others are making the app work, then it converts. Ask for info on volume and conversion rate.
6) Sure, but market saturation is unlikely.
7) Your mind is jumping all over the place. Should I change angle? Banners? Offer? Traffic source? FOCUS. You should be going into this with a specific goal in mind. What is that goal? To test several angles and gather data on conversion rate for those angles with this specific offer. Certainly get feedback from your AM about how well the offer is doing - you should do this first - but commit to the test without letting indecision flood in.
Good luck!
Hey zeno,
Thanks for your feedback. Needed it I do admit my mind keep on splitting and jumping around.
Okay my goal is to focus on getting conversions via using multiple type of angles and see how the offer converts.
Action list
1) Talk to my AM about what other affiliates and how the apps are working. Payout is $1.50
2) Focus on only 320x50 & 300x250 banner designs
3) I will make 3 angles with 2 banners for each angle (So total 12 banners)
4) Resolve the conversion issue
5) Get A Conversion!
Questions
1) How do you go about testing a conversion? I linked
2) The payout is $1.50 & the conversion is $1.50, each campaign around $30. I tweak when I reach 3xoffer payout? or first wait $15 than start tweaking and subsequence tweak is after 3xpayout?
1) What you need to do is connect to a VPN service so that you appear to be from the country that the offer supports.
For mobile, you will need a real device - either iOS or Android - that can actually download and install the app.
You will need to configure the phone to connect to the VPN service so that it looks like a phone on WiFi in whatever country is applicable.
Then, you can load your tracking link > redirects through your affiliate link to the landing page or store > download and install the app > open and use it.
This is likely what will trigger a real conversion, and you then need to check that it shows up in your stats.
