You'll need a solid ad server to rotate your ads. I use Adzerk ( http://adzerk.com/ ), but I recall someone recommending a new one on STM a while ago - anyone remember what it was?
Given your demographic, I'd suggest going straight for games. Dating will convert, but you're likely to have quality problems. Adult might also work if you're OK with running it on your site.
You could also try running some CPS offers for tech-related things. It might even be worth running some ads for B2B stuff like Wordpress hosting - that might completely fail, but might also convert surprisingly well depending on how many of your visitors also work in that or related sectors.

When did AdZerk change to being $500-1000/mo?
Two others I have heard of are:

Revive: http://www.revive-adserver.com/
The latter is completely free.
I used to recommend AdZerk, but (as zeno noted) they recently changed to a pretty expensive model, whereas before they were free up to a certain (high) amount of impressions per month.
Now I recommend Revive. It's a 20 minute install on most systems, and it's very easy to understand if you spend an hour or two watching OpenX Source how-to videos (since it's based on that code).
