Voluum, Traffic Junky & F5 Media Tracking

OK, I'm an absolute noob with tracking but I think I've finally got it setup. Well, kinda...

Before I go live with a campaign, could those who this is second nature to please have a look at what I've added in each section to make sure it's all OK and that I'll be pulling in the right information.

Once I get feedback, I also hope this proves useful for others trying to set all this up!

-----

1) Setting up traffic source

I setup TJ as a traffic source. I don't think they offer a postback url or custom variables so that screen looks pretty plain (correct me if I'm missing things that need to be added)

I've added ad001 as a custom variable because from what I understand, that will help me track the performance of different banners. I assign each banner in traffic junky with a different custom variable? More on that later...

2) Adding the offer from F5

Here it is:

I have a feeling I'm missing something off from my affilate URL. For example, what's the correct thing to add into &s1= ?? As you can see, I just threw in ZA but I think something else needs to be there? The custom variable I set above? Heads a little lost at the moment...

And payout - I manually entered the payout. But am I able to get the Auto feature working?

3) Adding the lander

I added the direct link to my lander - that's it.

In the actual lander, the call to actions have the Click URL found here https://panel.Voluum.com/#/settings/setup and that looks like this:

http://abcdef.trackvoluum.com/click

4) Creating the campaign

Here's how it looks:

Questions on this...

> My campaign URL is http://fwlxj.trackvoluum.com/5a317bdc-6420-473c-b382-xxxxxxx?ad001={ad001}

Do I manually change the {ad001} part for every banner that I upload to TJ to track creatives?

> I guessed a CPC of 0.08 based on a little test I ran on the platform before tracking was setup but I know this won't be reliable. How would / could I setup the auto method?

5) Adding postback URL to F5 media offer

I grabbed my postback from this page: https://panel.voluum.com/#/settings/setup and added it into the testing / tracking section of my offer.

Raw it looks like this: http://fwlxj.trackvoluum.com/postback?cid={REPLACE}&payout={OPTIONAL}

I added what I think should go in 'REPLACE' and 'OPTIONAL' so the URL is now:

http://fwlxj.trackvoluum.com/postbac...payout=#price#

Is that correct?

------

So... please let me know if I missing something, where I'm going wrong and how this can be made better....

Huge thanks in advance to anyone that helps

You're most of the way there. I'll give you a run down on what I would do, which in the process will address some small modifications you should make.

Before you go any further, I would turn off automatic click ID appendage for your affiliate network. I don't know if Voluum automatically disables this if you have {clickid} in an offer URL. If it doesn't it could cause problems. So, untick it:

1. Traffic source setup

2. Offer setup

Here you will automaically pass banner name on to the network, which you will manually fill in in the URLs you use for ads at TJ.

3. Lander setup

The CTA link on your lander should be http://abcdef.trackvoluum.com/click as you mentioned.

4. Campaign setup

5. Setup at F5 Media

As for your questions:

1. Don't track click costs unless you know what they are quite well - you can change these later or with a campaign where you know click costs. You will want to track profit by comparing TJ to F5Media anyway.

2. In the generated campaign URLs, you will just need to replace "{banner}" with whatever you want, e.g. US_Camp1_xx_300x250. Make sure to remove the {}, they are placeholders only.

3. Your postback URL was slightly off - you need to use #s2# as pictured - as that is what you passed {clickid} through. People don't use cid - that would pass the value after &c=... in the affiliate link, e.g. 7890. That number is pretty meaningless unless you are using stock creatives and links from Cake, which affiliates virtually never do.

FYI, Voluum detects if you have the append click id option enabled and also manually add {clickid} to your offer URL so you don't have to worry about that

Hello guys,

I have been struggling too with setting up volume.
Why is that box for postback empty, mine appears pre-populated with this :

Name:	yzzz.jpg
Views:	75
Size:	10.5 KB
ID:	2917

Which is the postback from Decisive when i completed the form for traffic network here:

http://screencast.com/t/1d8qMjIdC

- Do i have to leave that blank, i can see you guys left that open ?
- Also, the there is Postback and Secure postback which one should i use for F5media ?

The box pre-populates if you have configured a postback URL in the traffic source section.

You make a campaign > select traffic source > it pre-populates the postback URL for the campaign if the traffic source has one already. You can override it there if you want.

If you want conversion tracking from Decisive to work, just leave it as is.

Use a normal postback at F5 Media. There is little reason to use a secure one unless the advertiser requires it.
