Hey everyone,
So I am in a dilemma...and I need some advice of which path to take. I am thinking of two paths. The first is mobile advertising. Now I know there is a lot on this forum about this and with caurmen's guide I have the information I need to get started. The problem is i am thinking of another route to take. One that seems more long term and less bouncing from campaign to campaign.
I am thinking of doing affiliate marketing in the health market vertical with a long term goal of private labeling my own products. I would be staying away from dieting and focusing more on health issues that arent easily quantified such as mood or focus supplements so not to be on any FDA or gov agency radar.
Thought process is to find a product that I am successful at affiliate marketing and once found develop my own product. This way I could really focus just on one product. Focus and test for things in the copy, ads, landing pages, email follow ups...the works... and really understand this one product. The problem is i am not sure how to start?
For example I feel the best thing to do is test different products so where would i go for traffic to direct link? I know adwords wouldnt work because they dont allow direct linking and my understanding is facebook doesnt either. I would need a traffic source that has volume and is good for health related products. Another thought is this something I could do on just mobile? If I wanted to do mobile do i just use use advertising platforms like mobfox, inmobi, decisive? Are there ones better for health related products?
Any advice on any aspect of this would be very appreciated. Thanks!
Hey..
I am also new... I started in December2013... and I started learning AM from digitalpoint and warriorforum... BIG MISTAKE!
anyway...
I would suggest to get yourself familiarized on how things work... and the very first step is to get your hands wet... and step into something you think you should learn...
If you want your own product in the future... you will be the advertiser... wouldn't it be nice if you learn how does the publisher side works?
you can advertise and publish your product at the same time...
in short.. I would go ahead and try out Caurmen's Appetizer...
everything is there... just follow and try it... it shouldn't cost too much... the things you will learn from "CREATING" your very first campaign is PRICELESS!
hey superboi, yeah i spent more time on the warrior forum then i would like to admit
I have been so happy to find STM, everyone is great and tons of info. thanks for your input!!! Love the idea of perspective from the publishers side..so a publisher would be like the site newsmax.com where they sell advertising spots?
In this case the publisher would be you as an affiliate buying ads, whereas the advertiser is the offer owner.
So, better to learn how to drive traffic as a publisher, to some advertiser's offer, before trying to launch your own product.
Marketing health products is not trivial and you can expect it to require a bigger budget than typical affiliate offers that pay a few $ per lead.
As a product owner... you'll face an entirely new plethora of issues and will have a lot of trouble being both advertiser and publisher if you don't yet have experience making profitable campaigns for other, matured offers.
My advice: start testing the waters as a normal affiliate running non-health offers (e.g. mobile CPIs) so that you learn how everything works. Networks, tracking, server setup, landers/banner creations, relationship dynamics between you, network and advertisers, scaling, etc. are all things you will need to learn, and can do so without touching health products at all.
