Should I Get A Job and Come Back Later?

Hello everyone,

I'm a newbie in affiliate marketing with paid ads. I've started to promote some of the products on clickbank and I'm having a little success with SEO.

Now I'm making only $500 profit per month.

The first post that I read here was about the cookbook of mobile ads, and it gave me an impression that all the methods of affiliate marketing require a minimum investment of $1000 for testing purposes.

How about me who can't afford that much? Are there ways of starting out with a budget of $500 or I should stick to SEO/get a job until I have that minimum budget?

I would love hearing your input

Note:. I'm not really comfortable with adult for the moment.

I know you inboxed me the same question, so I'll respond here.

For a newbie, I'd recommend you start out with POF to get your feet wet.

The reality is, you probably WONT make money for a while with paid ads because it's simply not that easy - but it can be done - and many on this forum are examples of that.

What you'll need is money you're WILLING TO LOSE.

If losing $500-1000 is going to leave you unable to put food on the table, then NO, now's not a good time to get involved. Unfortunately you do need budget to learn in this industry.

Shameless plug here, kind of, but Maynzie wrote a good post about this very subject a long while ago on my blog..

I've also responded to this via PM, but Andy makes a very, very good point here.

If that $500 is $500 you can afford to lose, then I'd say go with it - you'll learn slower but you will learn.

If that $500 a month is money you need, then definitely don't spend it on AM.

Assuming this is your only income, yes, definitely get a job.

Many people mistakenly think that IM is an all-or-nothing proposition.

Nothing can be further from the truth.

Even while working, you can continue to do and learn IM on the side with any truly disposable income that you make.

The time to consider going full time in IM (if ever) is when you are making enough in IM on a risk adjusted basis (or have strong reasons to believe that you will do so) that IM income will more than offset your regular income.

I agree with cmdeal. The trick to IM is to work on it consistently. Learn something new everyday. Do something everyday to improve your website, increase your conversions, make new leads, etc. It's not a sprint, it's a marathon. It's better to do a little bit everyday (while you're working) and have some disposable income for your business than to commit yourself full-time and bankrupt yourself in a few months.

Data really wins the day with paid traffic. If you can't afford to purchase the data you will be making decisions based on emotion or incomplete facts, which will hinder your progress significantly. I would advise working at a regular job until you get to the point that you can lose $1k~$5k on clicks without breaking the bank.
