Mobile Banner Inspiration Thread? A place to get ideas for your next banner

Hey Guys,

I have noticed multiple follow alongs and instructional that have example or used mobile banners, Maybe we can stuff that all into one place?. I was wondering if we could maybe create a mobile banner thread with a ton of different creatives for us to draw inspiration from for future campaigns. Or if the moderators know of else where on the net we could find these it would be awesome. Just a thought id share with the community.

When working on new banners for campaigns in PS sometimes you need a little inspiration from time to time

Best bet here is probably to look at the case studies in the mobile index - http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...d-case-studies

... or hope others share some here!

In general we frown on 'outing' creatives you find in the wild, i.e. sharing ads/landers you've seen that aren't yours as it can be detrimental to other members campaigns, and can downright get people irate.

Mobile spying has its difficulties anyway and like always I'd advise actually exploring the wilderness yourself - hook a smartphone up to a VPN service and visit relevant sites and get inspiration from live ads. WhatRunsWhere also has some mobile coverage.

Fear & Emotion based banners are best..

anyhow, finch has an awesome post on his blog about the 6 SINS -- his post is about adult banners, but you can take those 6 sins and also apply them to anything in a non-sinly manner.

also you can think of these human emotional classifications:

+ Anger
+ Disgust
+ Fear
+ Happiness
+ Sadness
+ Surprise

and then go even further:

Acceptance
Affection
Aggression
Ambivalence
Apathy
Anxiety
Boredom
Compassion
Confusion
Contempt
Depression
Doubt
Ecstasy
Empathy
Envy
Embarrassment
Euphoria
Forgiveness
Frustration
Gratitude
Grief
Guilt
Hatred
Hope
Horror
Hostility
Homesickness
Hunger
Hysteria
Interest
Loneliness
Love
Paranoia
Pity
Pleasure
Pride
Rage
Regret
Remorse
Shame
Suffering
Sympathy

and for each, brainstorm what kind of images/headlines you can attach to them that relate to your product

TIP: you can type in each into images.googlle.com and see what comes up, to build your list

after you have that list its just a matter of firing up photoshop and doing some work for each , then test test testing them

Zeno,

Totally get what your saying. I could see how someone would get pissed if their campaign banners got outed. My thinking behind this is from back when I use to make logos or even promotional fliers, I would always spend time on sites like logopond, behance, etc to get some inspiration before hitting photoshop. I didn't intend to ask for live banners or anything but more along the line of banners that have worked well in the past (dead now) but a good jump off point for others for getting the ideas flowing.

Either way, It's always a good idea to try and be creative and come up with original stuff.
