Mobile - First Time Mobile Follow Along! GOAL: $70 per day in 30 days!

[Day 1]

Hi Yall in the past I have done up to $5000 per day profit with PPV. I'm going to take a stab at Mobile.

Experts in Mobile please chime in if I am doing this correctly.

Offer Type: APP install. Banner -> Google Play download page. DIRECT LINK

TrafficSource: Decisive - I have tried Admob and InMobi but all seem to have issues with my cpvlab tracking link. So I am going with what is recommeded in here for starters.

Affiliate Network: MundoMedia only for now. Once I get this profitable, I will test other networks.

Banners: As many as 15 banners all different variations - About 7 different designs. Should I test this many for first time?

Tracking: Cpvlab with Mobile Stats - I still couldn't get STM Mobile Tracker to work. I hope BH can fix soon. I posted my error message in the STM Mobile tracker thread. http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...er-V3-4/page28

Device target: Android OS

This offer is an international offer.

What other stuff should I set as filter?

I'm going to run this as soon as Decisive approves. I sent my banners in for approval yesterday. I'll post the stats in a day once it runs today.

Good Luck!
I'm gonna follow along...

When an Ad is generated, do we have to click "unpause" for it to go in approval? I did not yesterday and today when I logged in the Ad disappeared.

What I don't understand from Decisive are the Audience choices.

Content Type
App
Site
Category
Subcategory

Are those important to choose for starters?

Good luck, $70/day is a very reasonable goal.

About the banners

Make radically different designs, a few per ANGLE. Then setup different campaigns for each angle and test each banner at offer times 2x or 3x. (If you have 5 banners, and offer pays $1, then your budget to test 1 angle with 5 banners is $15)

Good luck

Is there someone at Decisive I can talk to?

06-10-2014 06:07 PM #6 caurmen (Administrator)

Yep, you'll need to manually unpause to set the ads going.

Content type I would recommend split-testing - test one campaign with App and another with Site.

Everything else you can ignore for now.

Have you read through the Mobile Cookbook guides?

Update:

Banners all got rejected by Decisive. I tried submitting two groups to remove the ones that may be misleading. Got rejected because they see an apk downloadable file. That only happens because they need to use that country's ips I believe. I was told offers no longer doing well by AM so I have to look for another offer.

FYI it's up to you to make sure they get to the specific offer page you intend to run - if they get redirected elsewhere it's a tracking failure on your end.

During approval, have the CPV Lab campaign redirecting to the offer page directly (no affiliate links!). Afterward, consider setting some rule or redirect profile that redirects everyone outside your targeted geo to the offer page as well.

Thanks. How do you redirect the approval team to see what people for instance at Brasil will see? Mundo does have a preview link that shows us the offer. Do I just use this link for approval then swap it afterwards back to the actual link to Brasil?

Yes, pretty much.

It's fine to do this provided you are still sending the reviewers to the same destination they would hit if they checked your ad via a Brasil VPN once it was live.

Note, you should learn how to use whatever geo-redirection your tracking system offers to control the traffic when the campaign is live.

E.g. rule that states "If user not from BR, send to offer X (offer lander) else send to affiliate link".

[Day 2 & 3]

Spent my time last 2 days, signing up for traffic sources and getting my feet wet with each and analyzing stats.

I got rid of the other offer since no conversions after $10 spent.

Found AU offer that has potential and recommended by my AM.

Anyone know of good traffic sources for AU traffic? I already signed up for:

1. Go2Mobi
2. InMobi
3. Millenial Media (previously JumpTap)
4. Adperium
5. Buzzcity (didn't accept cc)
6. PopAds.net (didn't load i think no inventory)
7. Decisive.is

Most are in approval process. Only G2Mobi approved my banners that most won't.

No conversions yet.

Banner -> Landing Page -> Offer

So far really low CTR about .27% - my bid is high .62 cpm - should i increase some more?
59 clicks on Banner to Lander
3 clicks to landing page to the Offer

I would suggest you consider testing on just one traffic platform, get your variables optimized, and then scale it over to the other traffic networks. Consider this:

Start with one Traffic Source >>> Put together 5 angles >>> Build 3 creatives around each angle >>> Test Direct Link to Offer for a week >>> Find the Winning Angle continue to Blacklist Mobile Variables that have relatively high Effective CPCs >>> Run Additional Banner Creatives Around that Angle >>> Find the Winning Banner Creative for the Angles >>> Split Test 2 LPs and DL >>> Scale the Optimized Variables over to the Other Traffic Networks.

Thanks Vp5005. I did split up a few angles to test SITE vs APP. I'm going with a landing page since this offer really needs it.

So far SITE for me is getting higher CTR about 1% while APP is .25%. Is this normal?

Also, my CPM big is on 0.51 on decisive for AUS traffic. I'm not getting much traffic. I increased all day from .25 to .51 still not too much - about 35 clicks total. Is there way more traffic somewhere that I am just not bidding high enough to see?

Thanks guys!

@sai

1% CTR is a pretty go start, .25% is quite low. I would take a look at the App placements individually, and make sure to blacklist any that have very low CTRs to start off. There may a few that are driving alot of traffic but little Clickthru. So consider looking into that first. As per increasing your traffic on Decisive, try to first increase your daily budget, if it is set relatively low right not. See if that improves the impression flow, and if that doesnt help much, you will likely need to considering a higher CPM bid. AUS is a Tier 1 country with higher competition for placements in general.

This is getting interesting. I just turned off a lot of nice looking banners. This particular type works great. Still no conversions yet.

How many clicks should I hit before expecting a conversion? Roughly should I look for 100+ clicks, 300+ clicks? My payout is over $10.

06-18-2014 03:34 AM #17 sai_ (Member)

I am removing anything under .25% ctr.

06-18-2014 03:43 PM #18 caurmen (Administrator)

Hmm, that's a pretty high payout, particularly for mobile.

My usual guideline would be that if I haven't seen a conversion after spending 8 times the payout of the offer, there's something wrong. So in your case, that would be after a spend of $80.

You may want to consider testing a lower payout offer as it'll be faster to validate.
