Am I too old for AM? - Newbie Questions

Hi, this is my first post and I have the following (newbie) qestions:

1) I'm 47 and I noticed that most of the STM Members are between 20-30
Am I too old for this business?

2) Is it possible to start part time (I'm working 8-5) investing like 2 hours in the evening?

3) language problems: I'm Itaian but my mother language is German. Do you outsource the writing part?

4) Just wondering: are you guys using Mac or PC?

Age is just a number. As long as you're able to take advice from younger people. A lot of the younger, early 20's, guys on here absolutely crush and give great advice.

Coming back to marketing now a few years older, I think it gives me a leg up on some people as I am more mature and much more interested in long term business development than the hype that surrounds the industry. It also helps in terms of life experience as I am factoring things like health insurance, 401k, etc. into my opportunity cost valuations. These are things that a lot of younger guys aren't really cognizant of yet, especially if they came straight into the game and have never worked in a salaried position "for the man".

Well for a start you know how a 47 year old man thinks and that is one advantage you have. Why not start with dating offers targeting 45-50 year old Males?

NO! You're never too old for business. And luck for you, STM is overflowing with people who are more than happy to help out.

Initially, yes. But as you get more into it, and especially once you have campaigns that work, you may want to put more hours or outsource the work in order to scale up these campaigns and do more.

You can outsource the writing part. But I also recommend that you try it at least once, just to understand how content works in your campaign. And once you outsource it, you have to find ways to ensure quality, either by editing the work yourself or hiring a professional editor.

I know someone around your age that left his tiring trades job of 25+ years for a comfy life of aff marketing last year. He now makes $xx,xxx profit/month

I know a guy who started AM this time last year. A couple of month ago he left his job to go full time with AM. He's 55.

If you can afford to commit time, money ,and have a good work ethic, then you are no different than the young whipper snappers.

A relative of mine started off as shit kicker in a small factory. His boss decided to sell up and retire. Seeing the situation as an opportunity he managed to borrow the money from the bank to buy the business, chalking up the value of the property as the revenue throughput was considered good will.

Over the following years he turned it into a significant business securing around 40% market share of his space within 2 markets. At that time things were a little more relaxed as far as corporate governance was concerned, hence created a pretty ruthless competitive climate.

His wife was diagnosed with cancer at the height of his success. 16 months later she was placed into remission. She desperately wanted to travel, so her clean bill of health coupled with an acquisition offer hanging in the background were strong signals to sell. So he did.

They traveled for about a year and she fell ill again. They came back after she suffered a stroke and was diagnosed with incurable brain cancer. She passed 4 months later.

He spent 10 years not doing a whole lot. Over that time much soul searching took place and he arrived at the conclusion that he needed to do what he did best. So it was off for round 2.... at 80 years old.

12 years on he's back to 3 sites, currently holds 30 something % market share and employs around 400 people. He's in his 90's and still kicking strong. Although he still believes things can be sorted out with a good old fashioned horse trade.

Markus, Another way to look at it is if these "young rugrats" can crush it in AM so can you. You've got twice the life experience/work experience.

Just a change in mindset, but make sure it's something you really want. I mean REALLY want and not talk yourself out of it. Age isn't the determining factor to your success. Determination is, and hard work is the entry ticket.

Been in a similar situation but in regards to something else.

There is a man and I have forgotten his username, from Serbia who has attended both Bangkok and Amsterdam, who runs adult and is much 'older' then you and he is killing it!

Age holds no boundaries mate, I'm sure you can contribute much to this forum too!

Absolutely not too old. I started at 30. When I started I knew nothing about servers, web, email, marketing, advertising, copywriting and the list goes on. There's a lot to learn.

But I'd say this if you're will to sacrifice, invest and work hard the opportunity is there.

Your biggest enemy is yourself. If you're head down, focused and determined anyone can figure this out. It's far from rocket science.
