I am looking to do some local lead generation for small business.
Need advice on which traffic sources.
Example: Attorney looking for new clients?
What is the best traffic sources to try and test to make their phone ring?
Also, if using traffic source like google adwords...what tracking software can you use to determine which keywords convert?
Well, for the Attorney example LinkedIn is an obvious suggestion, but otherwise I would suggest Google Adwords and Facebook. I'm no Adwords expert, but Facebook has a very high market penetration and the demographic targeting can let you drilldown to very specific kinds of people.
For Facebook, do you suggest A. direct link to the website?
or
B. build a fan page and sending traffic there?
What specifically do you mean by sending traffic to a fan page?
You can make a page then use various post advertisement types, which does not require any fan base, and I would advise doing this.
However, don't waste your time trying to build the page audience (i.e. number of likes) or sending people to page tabs.
Stick to direct ads that accomplish your lead generation goal in the simplest manner, and in a way that can be tracked easily.

Going to dig deeper with google adwords. Appreciate the feedback.
Anyone has a guide on google adwords with "Call Extensions!"
I don't have a guide, but I talk about this in one of our recent "Getting Started" webinars.
