Noob Media Buy Questions
1. RTB exchanges sell remnant traffic as if remnant is inferior to premium. If you're a direct response marketer as opposed to a branding advertiser though, does it really matter if the traffic is premium or remnant? What's the biggest difference between remnant and non-remnant traffic?
2. I'm looking to start buying on either sitescout or GDN. Wouldn't it be better to purchase on sitescout since it has more reach than GDN? After all, sitescout has access to google traffic and all the other exchanges. Are there any better self-serve places to start a media buy?
I'd greatly appreciate any input to help shorten my learning curve
Thanks!

1. Remnant is not bad, its just unsold. The source that can't sell it, sends it to DSP/RTB to sell it, and it gets resold by a middle men - that simply means it will cost you way more vs if you bought it direct.
2. It depends on what offer you are going to push, if its mobile then SS is good, Inmobi, Decisive.

Sometimes premium outperforms remnant and sometimes remnant is better. It really depends where it is coming from. Remnant is just inventory that can't be sold, test it out!
GDN has a huge reach. Sitescout has access to some Google inventory but as far as I know they do not have ALL of it in their system. If you have the budget test both. Test, see what works and optimize.
Hope that helps!
