Hey everyone,
Scraping my first real campaign together since joining STM.
I own Social Lead Freak cause I was using it to target biz owners,
which I haven't used much yet. I have used it to sell a writing
product once in a kind of casual fb advertising for fun.
But now I'm getting more serious and I am curious...
What are ways to scale up with SLF, and are there any tricks
of the trade of using the software that worked really well for
you?
Right now just scraping up UIDs related directly with the product
I'm looking to promote, each page only giving back around 200 UIDs
though.
Thanks in advance =)
I used to use scrapers when I was doing viral news type pages. I'd scrape the active users of existing viral news sites and promote to them. Since joining STM though, I haven't touched my scrapers. When you scale up a lot, you're going to need a somewhat broad audience, for most ppc camps at least. If you're set on scraping, just scrape a TON of pages relevant to your product's niche, and think outside the box when hunting for pages to scrape. I'd then split test the scraped UID's camp alongside a broad or interest targeted camp. Of course your results will vary based on how specific the product that you're pushing is, but test EVERYTHING when getting camps launched. Good luck!
Is SLF still working or do you know of any other alternatives? I have heard chatter online about Facebook stopping scrapers and/or terminating advertising accounts they suspect have used harvested data. I haven't been able to verify the latter though.
FB has taken down a lot of scrapers as it violates their ToS. I'd be careful with that now.
FB clamping down was inevitable.
If you do need some way to scale, my recommendation would be using their conversion pixel + custom website audience pixel (on landers and at the conversion point) and then making lookalike audiences.
Thanks for the information Zeno. That's a great idea. It would be nice to know how people got caught using custom audiences,so I can avoid making the same mistakes. I finally found a piece of software that works for scraping UID's. I decided to create a fake account to use for advertising in case FB gets mental.
I got for the smaller demo option that focuses on similarity rather than reach. It's definitely something to split test though!
