Decisive smart cpm

Does anyone have experience with decisive's smart cpm bid option? Positive, negative, or any recommendations you might have about the right way to bid in decisive? Thanks

I have tried it , it's hit and miss for me.

Nowdays I generally just use a flat CPM since the SmartCPM a lot of times goes by a lot over the target CPA , even when I have a lot of data.

Well, it's the quickest way to find converting targets, but it will swallow a lot of your budget -- fast.

If you are sensitive to losing money, then use with caution and set low CPA targets.

Once you find profitable targets, move them quickly in to separate campaigns with a flat CPM targeted at that individual placement.

Thanks guys. So is it a recommendation not to use cpc at all, and instead use cpm with decisive?

^^ Yep stay away from CPC if CPM is available on any platform.

Hey mr green. Thanks for the advise. Just curious to understand why is cpc to be avoided?

"eCPM" (earning per 1000 impressions) is the key factor in regards to getting your ads served.

Ad networks want to make the most amount of money per 1000 impressions. So they don't really care how many clicks you get as long as you are paying decent eCPMs.

If you bid CPC your ads won't get served if your CTRs are bad. If your CTRs are good then you aren't getting the benefit you can out of bid CPM.

Also, lot of ad networks have minimum CPCs of 5 cents or 1 cent. If you are able to create high CTR ads you can pay well under the min CPC bid, whilst still beating the eCPM of 5 cent CPC ads.

Awesome, thanks for the clarification.

I was just skeptical about the possibility of networks throwing your ads on shitty inventory when in cpm mode, given that they make money out of impressions only and not out of clicks.
